Despite challenging conditions, the Argyle Lady Eagles showed remarkable resilience and determination, securing a well-deserved second-place finish in the Lady Pirate Classic at Harbour Lakes in Granbury. Mother Nature was not on their side, as a thunderstorm caused a delay in Friday's round, and the team had to tackle a saturated golf course after a 2 1/2-hour rain delay. Nonetheless, the Ladies remained focused and fought to stay in contention.
Ryan Purczynski led the team with a 75 posting the 2nd lowest round of the first round. Colbie Moses followed with an 88. Kate Rendon shot 91, and Anna Edwards and Ansleigh Mullins shot rounds of 93 to round out the team scoring. The team score of 347 left the girls in fourth place behind Lovejoy at 337, Mansfield Legacy, and Aledo going into the second round. Sophomore, Alex Mara, playing as a medalist, shot her career-best round of 82 for the Lady Eagles.
In round two, the ladies soared up the leaderboard, shooting a low round of 314. Rendon led the charge, shooting 76, followed by Moses’s career-best 77, Purczynski’s 78, and Edwards's 83.
Tailing Lovejoy by ten strokes the Eagles made up all but one, finishing in second place to Lovejoy’s 660. Mullins and Mara finished their tournament shooting 93 and 90, respectively.
