The Lady Eagles were your track and field team District 6-5A champions, earning a total of 175 points to Denton Ryan’s 143.
Day 2 of the meet began with the field events. In the shot put, junior Emma King placed 3rd with a throw of 35-11.50, securing her spot at the area meet. Also competing were sophomores Joey Fowler and Vanessa DeBanks, who placed 7th and 11th, throwing 30-00.25 and 28-11.50 respectively.
Also qualifying for an area spot was Annaka Ross, who placed 3rd in long jump with 16-11.25. Additionally, sophomore Chelsea Nwaiwu jumped 14-03.50 for 9th.
The running events began with the 4X100m relay, in which freshmen Adyson Padron, Annaka Ross, Ava Atkins, and senior Blair Mosley placed 3rd with a time of 49.54.
In the 800m run, senior Sydney Lessley qualified for the Area meet, placing 4th with a new PR of 2:21.62. Also competing were junior Sadie Cotter and senior Emerson Payne, who placed 7th & 8th with new personal bests of 2:27.75 and 2:28.39.
Competing in the 100m hurdles were sophomore Presli Prater, junior Berkley Burns, and senior Ella Stanzel. Prater and Burns took 1st and 2nd, running 15.89 and 16.34. Both will qualify for the Area meet. Stanzel also put points on the board with a 5th place finish in 17.02.
Advancing in the 100m dash were freshman Adyson Padron and sophomore Chelsea Nwaiwu, who placed 2nd and 4th overall. Padron finished the race in 12.77, and Nwaiwu ran 12.91. Also competing was freshman Ava Atkins, who placed 8th with a time of 13.25.
In the 4X200m relay, freshmen Adyson Padron, Annaka Ross, sophomore Deana Somers, and junior Eva Robinson ran 1:43.91 for 2nd, earning them a spot on the Area Meet.
Taking 1st and 2nd in the 400m run, senior Blair Mosley and sophomore Chelsea Nwaiwu punched their tickets to Area. Mosley ran 57.07 to set a new school record, and Nwaiwu finished in 57.71.
Competing in the 300m hurdles was Junior Kate Brooks, who placed 4th with a time of 47.82. She will be advancing to the Area competition.
Also advancing to the Area meet in the 200m will be sophomore Chelsea Nwaiwu and junior Eva Robinson. Nwaiwu placed 2nd with a time of 25.85 and Robinson ran 25.96 for 4th. Additionally, Junior Mallory Kuykendall placed 8th with a time of 27.31.
In the 1600m run, sophomore Madison Chapman placed 4th, running a new PR of 5:20.37. Next was senior Sydney Lessley, who ran 5:27.80 for 6th. Also competing was senior Emerson Payne, who set a new PR of 5:29.82. Chapman will be advancing to the Area meet next week.
The night concluded with the 4X400m relay. The team consisting of freshman Annaka Ross, junior Eva Robinson, sophomore Deana Somers, and senior Blair Mosley took home the gold, finishing in a time of 4:03.05.
The following Lady Eagles will compete at the Area Championship next Friday, April 17th.
