GLEN ROSE, Texas — The Argyle Lady Eagles used a strong second-day performance to earn a third-place finish at the Dinosaur Classic, played Sept. 25-26 at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose.

Argyle finished the two-day tournament with a team total of 685, posting rounds of 353 and 332. The Lady Eagles’ 21-stroke improvement from the opening round to the final round proved to be the difference in a tight race for third place, as Argyle finished one stroke ahead of Denton Guyer at 686.

Byron Nelson captured the team championship with a 592, followed by Waco Midway at 653.

Freshman Aishwarya Mandadapu led the Lady Eagles with one of the tournament’s top individual performances. Mandadapu posted rounds of 80 and 79 for a 159 total, finishing sixth overall in a field that included competitors from multiple classifications and regions.

Junior Ashlynn McClanahan provided one of Argyle’s biggest second-day moves. After opening with an 89, McClanahan fired a 77 in the final round, improving by 12 shots and finishing with a two-day total of 166.

Junior Hailey Perkins also contributed to Argyle’s Day 2 surge, following an opening 87 with an 83 to finish at 170.

Victoria Franciscus-Timm improved four strokes in the final round, shooting 97-93 for a 190, while Scarlett Sommer posted rounds of 97 and 96 for a 193.

The collective improvement helped Argyle lower its team score from 353 on the first day to 332 in the final round. That 21-shot swing ultimately allowed the Lady Eagles to move ahead of Guyer and secure a spot in the top three.

Argyle also entered a second team in the Dinosaur Classic, giving seven additional Lady Eagles the opportunity to compete over two tournament rounds.

Argyle 2 finished seventh in the team standings with rounds of 380 and 384 for a 764 total.

Freshman Audrey Feroze led Argyle 2 with a consistent two days, shooting 91 and 92 for a 183.

Fellow freshman Preslie Moses opened with a 91 and followed with a 96 to finish at 187, while Ava Adamove posted rounds of 98 and 99 for a 197.

Sophia Estrada recorded rounds of 96 and 103 for a 199 total.

Sophomore Carleigh Hughes made one of the largest improvements among the Lady Eagles, cutting 14 strokes from her opening round. Hughes followed a 108 with a 94 on Day 2 to finish at 202.

Freshman Charlee Bishop was remarkably consistent, recording consecutive rounds of 102 for a 204.

Joey Fowler produced another significant second-day turnaround. After opening with a 117, Fowler came back with a 94, improving by 23 strokes in the final round and finishing at 211.

The Dinosaur Classic provided another strong early-season test for the Lady Eagles while also highlighting the depth of the program. Four Argyle golfers improved by double digits from the first round to the second, led by Fowler’s 23-shot improvement, Hughes’ 14-shot improvement and McClanahan’s 12-shot improvement.

Most importantly for the varsity lineup, Argyle responded to its opening-round 353 with a 21-shot team improvement on Day 2, closing with a 332 to secure third place.

With two teams competing and 12 Lady Eagles represented across the two lineups, the weekend at Squaw Valley provided valuable tournament experience throughout the program while giving Argyle another top-three varsity finish early in the season.
