Lady Eagles Close Fall Season at 5A State Preview in Georgetown
November 13–14, 2025
Legacy Hills Golf Club – Georgetown, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles golf team concluded their fall season by competing in the 5A State Preview Friday and Saturday, November 13–14, at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Georgetown. The event brought together many of the state's top programs, including district rivals Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine, over two days of challenging competition.

Georgetown’s November weather typically brings mild temperatures and moderate conditions, with average daytime highs near the upper 60s and lows in the low 50s, making it generally favorable for golf competition this time of year. This climate provided mostly comfortable playing conditions throughout the tournament.

In Friday’s opening round, Argyle posted competitive scores against the strong field. Alex Mara led the Lady Eagles with an 85, combining precision off the tee with innovative course management. Colbie Moses followed with an 87, maintaining her consistent play. Lily Bayer shot a 96, while Sloane McMellian carded a 93. Hailey Perkins contributed a 93 as well. The team remained in contention, positioned just behind several top-ranked programs heading into the second day of play.

In the second round on Saturday, the Lady Eagles continued to battle through the course’s undulating greens and strategic challenges. Mara turned in an impressive 77, improving significantly from her opening round. Moses backed up her first-round effort with an 82, finishing the event with solid back-to-back rounds. Bayer posted a 95, McMellian shot 97, and Perkins closed her fall season with a 96. Argyle’s combined effort placed the Lady Eagles 12th overall, finishing one spot behind Grapevine and just behind notable competition, while Colleyville Heritage finished fifth in the event.

Individually, both Mara and Moses demonstrated leadership and resilience throughout the tournament, key traits that will serve the Lady Eagles well as they head into the spring season. Their performances—powerful second rounds—highlighted consistent growth and competitive toughness late in the fall schedule.

This event marked the conclusion of the Lady Eagles’ fall campaign. It provided valuable experience competing against some of the state’s best golfers in near-ideal November conditions in Georgetown. With the fall season complete, the team now turns its focus to preparing for the Region I 5A Preview in Lubbock, where it will begin spring competition and continue working toward postseason goals.
