Lady Eagles Gain Valuable Experience at 5A Region 1 Golf Tournament
March 7, 2025
LakeRidge Country Club – Lubbock, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles head west for an important postseason preview and come away with both a strong finish and valuable experience at LakeRidge Country Club in Lubbock.
Competing March 7 at the 5A Region I Preview, Argyle places third in an event that offers a meaningful early look at the course and conditions that could shape the postseason later in the spring. Originally scheduled as a two-day tournament, the event is shortened to a single round as an incoming cold front brings rain and the threat of snow to West Texas.
Even with the format change, the day carries plenty of value.
LakeRidge presents the Lady Eagles with one of their most important regular-season tests, giving the team a chance to learn the course, study its demands, and gain experience on a layout that could matter again in April. Argyle responds with a team score of 381 and uses the round as another important step in its postseason preparation.
Colbie Moses leads the way for the Lady Eagles with a 90, setting the pace for the lineup on a challenging day. Ansleigh Mullins follows closely with a 91, while Ana Edwards adds a 94. Lily Bayer posts a 106, and Sloane McMellian rounds out the team score with a 108. Emerson Fischer also competes as a medalist and records a 109.
For Argyle, the tournament becomes about more than the final place in the standings. It becomes about seeing the course, managing changing conditions, and building familiarity in a setting that could look very different when the stakes rise later in the season. That kind of experience matters, especially on a course as demanding as LakeRidge.
Now the focus shifts fully back to district play.
The Lady Eagles next prepare for the District 7-5A Tournament at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch on March 31-April 1. Before then, Argyle returns to Wildhorse for a two-day event on March 21-22, giving the team one more opportunity to sharpen its game and gain valuable reps before the postseason begins.
With district rivals such as Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage continuing to set a high standard, Argyle enters the next stretch of the season knowing exactly what is ahead. The Lady Eagles now turn their attention to Robson Ranch, where the goal is clear: play their best golf when it matters most and extend the season into regional competition.
COMPETE WITH JOY
