Lady Eagles Go Back-to-Back with District 7-5A Title
April 1-2, 2024
Rockwood Golf Course – Fort Worth, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles continue to build a championship standard in UIL 5A, capturing the District 7-5A title and securing a second straight district championship in just their second year in the league.

At Rockwood Golf Course in Fort Worth, the Lady Eagles deliver the kind of two-day performance strong teams rely on in April — close enough after the opening round to stay within reach, composed enough in the final round to close the gap, and steady enough down the stretch to finish the job.

Grapevine holds the lead after round one at 320, with Argyle right behind at 329. Colleyville Heritage sits only one shot back of the Lady Eagles at 330, setting up a three-team race heading into the final round. Argyle stays firmly in contention behind Ryan Purczynski’s 75, while Kate Rendon and Colbie Moses each add 82s. Alex Mara contributes a 90, and Ana Edwards posts a 95 to keep the Lady Eagles well within striking distance.

The final round changes everything.

With cooler conditions settling over Fort Worth, Argyle answers with its best golf of the tournament, carding a 321 to erase the first-round deficit and move to the top of the board. Purczynski leads the charge with a brilliant 70, one of the best rounds of the event, while Rendon follows with a 79. Moses adds an 84, Mara posts an 88, and Edwards contributes a 90 as the Lady Eagles put together the kind of balanced scoring that decides championships.

When the final totals are posted, Argyle stands alone at 650.

Colleyville Heritage finishes just one shot back at 651, while Grapevine, the first-round leader, closes in third at 660. In a district race decided by the narrowest of margins, Argyle’s poise, depth, and final-round push prove decisive.

That is what makes the title stand out.

The Lady Eagles do not simply hold position. They chase down the lead, withstand pressure from two strong challengers, and deliver when the tournament tightens. Winning once demands talent. Winning back-to-back district titles in a new classification says something even bigger about the direction of the program.

For Argyle, the result reinforces what has become clear throughout the spring: the Lady Eagles are not adjusting to UIL 5A — they are establishing themselves in it.
