The Lady Eagles Track and Field team had a very successful day at the Decatur Relays on Thursday. The Varsity team took 2nd place to Krum with 139.5 points, missing 1st place by a window of only 4.5 points. The Junior Varsity team ran away with the meet, scoring 191 points over second place Decatur, who scored 111.
The day began with the field events. In JV shot put, freshman Langley Shank and junior Oritsesetenesan Nana threw 25’01.00 and 20’06.00, placing 13th and 20th respectively.
Competing in JV discus were freshmen Rylie Jones, Malaysia Bracy, and Kara Campbell. They threw marks of 52’07.00, 42’10.00, and 30’10.00 to place 18th, 19th, and 20th respectively. In the Varsity competition, senior Cora Crowell threw 95’05.00 to win the meet. Junior McKinely Carrier also placed 3rd with a throw of 91’00.00.
In the JV girls high jump, freshman Allie King placed 2nd, tying her PR of 4’10”. Senior Shaye Feely also jumped a new PR of 4’4” to place 5th. In the varsity division, senior Shelby Reed placed 2nd, jumping 5’4”. Also competing were sophomores Ella Stanzel and Teagan Tarrant, who jumped 5’2” to place 3rd and 4th.
In the Varsity girls pole vault, freshman Dylan Wyrick and junior Peyton Berry jumped 10’00.00 to place 2nd and 3th. Senior Abigail McCarroll also jumped her season best of 8’06.00 to place 5th.
The JV girls scored 18 points in the long jump on Thursday. Sophomore Ella Stanzel placed 1st, with a jump of 15’01.00. Freshman Kate Brooks also competed, jumping 14’08.50 to place 2nd. Additionally, junior McKinley Carrier jumped 12’10.00 to take 13th. In the Varsity division, senior Shaye Feely placed 4th with a jump of 15’04.50. Zoey Tait also took 8th place with a jump of 14’04.50.
In the JV girls triple jump was junior Rylie Fenoglio, who set a mark of 28.01.50 to place 9th. In the varsity division, junior Kaylee Combs jumped 29’11.25 to place 10th.
After putting significant points on the board in the field events, the Lady Eagles continued to impress in the running events.
In the JV 3200m, junior Adelyn Smith, sophomore Ariana Hernandez, and sophomore Margaret Schmidt placed 5th, 6th, and 8th, running times of 14:22.93, 14:25.93, and 14:52.39 respectively. In the Varsity race, junior Mara Reed took 2nd place, running a time of 12:37.44. Also competing were freshman Sadie Cotter, who ran a time of 13:00.87 to place 7th, and freshman Brooke Kilpatrick, who ran a time of 13:22.00.
Next was the JV girls 4X100m relay. The Argyle team of sophomores Londan Jordan, LeiLani De Leon, Alexa Garcia, and Blair Mosley competed their way to a decisive victory, running a time of 50.43. The Varsity girls relay consisted of freshman Mallory Kuykendall, junior Estelle Davis, and seniors Kendall Baker and Laiken Zamzow. They ran a time of 53.51to place 7th.
In the JV 100m hurdles, sophomore Ella Stanzel ran 17.91 to place 3rd. Freshman Kate Brooks also scored points, running 19.24 for a 5th place finish. Also competing was sophomore Addison Simpson, who ran 21.07 to place 3rd.
Argyle almost swept the 100m dash in the JV division. Freshman Saige Soell, junior Bella Jeffreys, and sophomore Brooklyn Springfellow each ran times of 12.69, 12.98, and 13.43 to take 1st, 2nd, and 4th respectively. In the Varsity race, senior Kendall Baker, and juniors Estelle Davis and Peyton Berry competed to take 2nd, 4th, and 7th, with times of 12.37, 12.57, and 12.77.
Taking 1st place in the JV 800m was sophomore Emerson Payne, running a new PR of 2:39.62. Also competing were freshmen Karson Riewerts and Shayni Kinsey, who ran 2:44.43 and 2:54.05 to place 3rd and 7th. In the Varsity 800m, freshman Aoife Journagan took first place, running 2:38.56. Also competing were freshman Brooke Kilpatrick and sophomore Emily Dallas.
The JV girls also won the 4X200m relay with a time of 1:49.28. The relay team consisted of sophomores Londan Jordan, Alexa Garcia, LeiLani De Leon, and freshman Saige Soell. The Varsity 4X200m relay ran a close race with Abilene Cooper, placing 2nd with a time of 1:49.18.
Competing in the JV 300m hurdles, was sophomore Teagan Tarrant, who won the race handily in 53.45. In the Varsity division, freshman Kate Brooks placed 4th with a time of 50.63, while junior Zoey Tait ran 56.21 for 11th.
The JV girls put 18 points on the board in the 200m dash. Sophomore Alexa Garcia ran away with the event, running a time of 27.66. Sophomore Ayla Feely placed 2nd, with a time of 28.80. Also competing was freshman Rylie Jones, who ran 30.19 to place 9th. Competing for the Varsity girls division were juniors Madeline Zindel and Estelle Davis, who ran 27.99 and 28.64 to place 8th and 12th.
All the Lady Eagles in the JV 1600m put points on the board. They were led by freshman Natalia Crnecki, who ran 6:05.27 to win the race. Sophomore Sydney Lessley and junior Sophie Deneault also took 4th and 6th, running 6:11.76 and 6:22.15 respectively. In the Varsity division, freshman Sadie Cotter and junior Mara Reed ran a close race, placing 4th and 5th. Sadie ran a new PR of 5:47.31, with Mara close behind at 5:47.58. Also competing was sophomore Emily Dallas, who ran 6:05.00.
Closing out the final victory for the Lady Eagle relays, the JV 4X400m ran another decisive race, running 4:28.08 to outpace the 2nd place team by almost 12 seconds. This relay consisted of sophomores Ellie Emeterio, LeiLani De Leon, Blair Mosley, and freshman Kate Brooks. The Varsity girls team placed 2nd to Krum in a quick race, running 4:08.50. The team consisted of juniors Emily Harbach and Madeline Zindel, and seniors Shaye Feely and Laiken Zamzow.
All in all, it was a great day for the Lady Eagles Track and Field team. They look forward to competing at home next Thursday.
