The Lady Eagles were neck and neck with Justin Northwest for the entire meet at Grapevine on Friday. The Varsity and JV girls ended up finishing with 140 and 114 points respectively to take 2nd and 3rd in a tough field. Friday’s competition saw numerous PR’s and season bests from the Lady Eagles. The Argyle Track and Field team is off to a great start this year.
The meet began with the open 1600m, where a number of athletes ran their personal best times. This included freshman Chloe Rose (6:53), sophomores London Fry (6:58) and Ella Artho (7:09), freshmen Sahasra Tiyyagura (7:16) and Samara Wheatfall (8:06), and junior Julia Conway (8:09).
This event was followed by the 3200m run. Competing for the Varsity squad, freshman Natalia Crnecki scored points for the team, placing 6th with a time of 13:46. Sophomore Margaret Schmidt ran 14:08 to place 8th, and sophomore Ariana Hernandez placed 10th with 14:45. For the JV race, Adelyn Smith placed 5th, clocking a new PR of 13:44. Also competing was senior Jade Beaulieu, who placed 7th with 14:33.
The Varsity 4X100m placed 2nd, with a time of 50.61. This team included senior Kendall Bake, freshman Mallory Kuykendall, junior Estelle Davis, and senior Laiken Zamzow. Competing in the JV 4X100m was the sophomore crew of Londan Jordan, LeiLani De Leon, Alexa Garcia, and Blair Mosely. They placed first with a time of 51.96.
The next event was the 800m run. Competing in the Varsity division, Freshman Aoife Journagan ran a new PR of 2:34.59 to place 4th. Junior Mara Reed followed closely behind, running 2:36.20 to place 6th. Also competing was freshman Brooke Kilpatrick, who placed 10th with a time of 2:48.75. The JV race was led by freshman Sadie Cotter, who placed 2nd, with a time of 2:40.21. Right behind her were sophomores Emily Dallas and Emerson Payne, who ran 2:41.39 and 2:41.78 to place 3rd and 4th respectively.
Competing for Varsity in the 100m hurdles was the trio of senior Shaye Feely, junior Zoey Tait, and freshman Kate Brooks. Shaye Feely placed 2nd in the race with a time of 15.43. Zoey Tait and Kate Brooks each clocked new personal bests of 17.01 and 17.90 to place 3rd and 7th in the event. The sophomore duo of Ella Stanzel and Addison Simpson competed in the JV division. Ella Stanzel ran a new personal best of 17.31 to win the event, while Addison Simpson clocked a new personal best of 20.89, placing 10th.
The Lady Eagles put 10 points on the board in the 100m dash. For the Varsity division, junior Estelle Davis ran 13.08 to take 2nd in the event, while junior Peyton Berry ran a new personal best of 13.39 to take 5th place. Also competing for the Lady Eagles was senior Shelby Reed, who ran a time of 13.73 to place 13th. For the JV division, junior Bella Jeffreys and freshman Saige Soell took 3rd and 4th, running times of 13.41 and 13.59 respectively. Junior Rylie Fenoglio also competed, running a new personal best of 14.45 to place 12th.
Competing in the Varsity 4X200m relay were seniors Kendal Baker, Shaye Feely, Laiken Zamzow, and freshman Mallory Kuykendall. The team ran a close race with Justin Northwest to place 2nd, with a time of 1:48.82. The JV squad consisted of sophomores Londan Jordan, LeiLani De Leon, Alexa Garcia, and Blair Mosely, who took 1st place with a time of 1:50.24.
In the Varsity 400m dash, junior Madeline Zindel and freshman Aoife Journagan placed 5th and 6th, running 1:06.67 and 1:07.76. In the JV race, junior Adelyn Smith and freshman Samantha Wheatfall ran new PR’s of 1:10.88 and 1:11.68 to place 6th and 7th.
Freshman Kate Brooks and junior Zoey Tait competed in the Varsity division of the 300m hurdles, placing 3rd and 5th, with times of 51.75 and 56.73. Competing in the JV race were sophomores Teagan Tarrant and Addison Simpson. Both ran new personal bests of 55.52 and 1:00.91 to place 6th and 9th respectively.
Senior Shelby Reed competed in the Varsity 200m dash, clocking a time of 28.85 to place 10th. Competing in the JV division were freshman Saige Soell, sophomore Ayla Feely, and junior Rylie Jones. They placed 5th, 7th, and 12th in the event, running times of 28.29, 29.00, and 29.92.
In the Varsity 1600m, junior Mara Reed and freshman Sadie Cotter took 7th and 8th, running times of 5:53.07 and 6:01.96. Freshman Brooke Kilpatrick also competed, running a time of 6:10.65 to place 10th. Competing in the JV race, sophomore Sydney Lessley ran 6:13.84 to place 4th. Junior Sophie Denault and freshman Shayni Kinsey followed closely behind, placing 6th and 7th, running times of 6:16.55 and 6:20.98.
The Varsity girls 4X400m team consisted of sophomore Emily Dallas, junior Madeline Zindel, and seniors Laiken Zamzow and Shaye Feely. In a tough race in windy conditions, they ran 4:22.59 to take 2nd place. The JV team also took 2nd place with a time of 4:31.14. The team consisted of sophomores Alexa Garcia, Ayla Feely, LeiLani De Leon, and Blair Mosely.
The Lady Eagles also had quite a showing in the field events. Senior Cora Crowell started off the meet with a 1st place finish in the discus, throwing a new PR of 105-10.00, and earning 10 points for Argyle. Competing in the JV division were junior Rylie Jones and freshman Malaysia Bracy, who both threw new PR’s 57-8.00, and 46-4.00, placing 12th and 18th.
In the Varsity girls pole vault, the Lady Eagles swept the board. In 1st place was junior Peyton Berry, jumping 10-0. In 2nd place was freshman Dylan Wyrick, jumping a new PR of 9-6. Senior Abigail McCaroll took 4th place, jumping 8-6.
The Varsity girls high jump saw equal success, with senior Shelby Reed and sophomore Ella Stanzel taking 1st and 2nd. Both jumped 5-4 this week. In the JV division, sophomore Teagan Tarrant and freshman Allie King took 1st and 2nd; both jumping 4-10, while senior Shaye Feely made her debut in the high jump, coming in at a height of 4-4.
Senior Shaye Feely also competed in long jump, placing 5th with a mark of 16-4.75. Junior Zoey Tait also competed, placing 10th with a mark of 13-9 in the Varsity division. For the JV team, freshman Kate Brooks and junior McKinley Carrier placed 4th and 9th respectively. Both jumped new personal bests of 14-1 and 12-10.
Competing for the Varsity team in triple jump was junior Kaylee Combs, placing 6th with a new PR of 30-5. In the JV division, junior Natalie Bartocci jumped a new PR of 24-6, placing 7th. Next week, the Lady Eagles will be competing at the Decatur Eagle Relays.
