Lady Eagles Help Power Argyle to Fourth at Southlake Four-Ball
October 29-30, 2021
Tangle Ridge Golf Course – Grand Prairie, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles team up with the Eagles boys program and help deliver a strong all-around showing at the Southlake Four-Ball, one of the fall’s most unique and competitive events.
Played in a co-ed format that pairs one boys golfer with one girls golfer, the tournament creates a true team atmosphere and brings together many of the top programs in the state. Argyle responds with a fourth-place finish in the combined Four-Ball standings with rounds of 306 and 284 for a two-day total of 590.
The weekend also produces strong finishes in both individual divisions.
The Eagles boys team finishes tied for third in the boys division, and Gaven Lane wins the overall boys individual title. On the girls side, the Lady Eagles place fifth as a team, adding another quality result against strong competition.
Argyle’s pairings give the tournament its unique shape.
Gaven Lane and Claire Jensen compete together, while Zane Griggs is paired with Madi Hance. Ethan Payne teams with Lauren Justice, Cooper Jensen partners with Madison Wert, and Ajay Frank pairs with Ryan Purczynski. In a format built on partnership, timing, and low-ball scoring, those combinations help Argyle stay in the hunt throughout the event.
For the Lady Eagles, Madison Wert leads the way with rounds of 88 and 73, delivering one of the best final-day performances of the tournament and giving Argyle a major lift. Claire Jensen follows with scores of 85 and 84, while Ryan Purczynski improves from a 94 in the opening round to an 84 on day two. Lauren Justice posts rounds of 90 and 93, and Madi Hance adds a 92 before improving to an 87 in the final round.
That final round says plenty about the group.
Wert’s 73 headlines the finish, but Purczynski and Hance also make strong jumps on day two as the Lady Eagles continue to supply quality scores in a field loaded with top teams. In an event where every pairing matters, those improvements carry extra value.
What makes the Southlake Four-Ball different is the pressure that comes with competing for more than an individual score. Each player is also playing for a partner and for the larger team result. The Lady Eagles handle that challenge well, helping Argyle secure a fourth-place combined finish, a fifth-place girls finish, and another weekend of valuable experience against elite competition.
For Argyle, the tournament becomes another reminder that the Lady Eagles can compete in any format and on any stage. Whether it is a traditional stroke-play event or a co-ed team competition, the Lady Eagles continue to show balance, resilience, and the ability to perform against some of the best programs in Texas.
COMPETE WITH JOY
