Lady Eagles Win District Preview, Argyle 2 Finishes Fourth at Champions Circle

The Argyle Lady Eagles close the preseason with a strong statement at the District 7-5A Preview, winning the team title and placing a second squad inside the top four at The Golf Club at Champions Circle.
With the district tournament set for the same course the following week, the event gives the Lady Eagles an important opportunity to learn the layout, sharpen their game, and build momentum before postseason play begins. Argyle makes the most of it.
The Black team captures first place with a team score of 323 and controls the top of the leaderboard throughout the day. Senior Madison Wert leads the way with a 75 to win individual medalist honors. Junior Kate Rendon and sophomore Ryan Purczynski each shoot 82 to tie for third, while freshman Colbie Moses adds an 84 to finish fifth. Sophomore Ana Edwards rounds out the scoring with an 89, good for eighth place.
That kind of top-end balance gives Argyle exactly the kind of performance a team wants heading into district week — a team title, an individual championship, and five players finishing inside the top eight.
Argyle’s second team also turns in a strong day, posting a 385 to finish fourth overall. Junior Allison Giese leads that group with a 90, while freshman Alex Mara follows with a 94. Sophomores Ansleigh Mullins and Ari Davies add scores of 100 and 101, and junior Sofia Wolfe rounds out the lineup with a 108.
Together, the two teams show the kind of depth that can define a postseason run. Argyle not only wins the preview, but also gains meaningful experience across both squads on the same course that will soon host the district championship.
Both teams now return to Champions Circle on April 4-5 for the District 7-5A Tournament, where the Lady Eagles will look to turn a strong preview into another postseason step forward and earn a place in the UIL 5A Regional Tournament at The Rawls Course later in April.
