Lady Eagles Earn Third-Place Finish at Amarillo Relays
October 4-5, 2024
Amarillo Country Club / Tascosa Country Club – Amarillo, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles continue their strong fall season with a third-place finish at the Amarillo Relays, posting a two-day team total of 683 against a competitive field in the Panhandle.

Playing across Amarillo Country Club and Tascosa Country Club, the Lady Eagles card rounds of 350 and 343, improving on day two and showing the kind of resilience that strong teams carry into the heart of the season.

The opening round at Amarillo Country Club gives Argyle a solid start.

With crisp fall temperatures in the low 50s creating ideal scoring conditions, Colbie Moses leads the way with a steady 77 to keep the Lady Eagles in position near the top of the standings. Ana Edwards adds an 87, while Ansleigh Mullins contributes an 89. Lily Bayer posts a 97, and Sloane McMellian and Emerson Fischer round out the lineup with scores of 109 and 110.

Day two at Tascosa Country Club brings a different challenge.

Wind sweeps across the course and raises the degree of difficulty, but Argyle responds with an even better team score, trimming seven shots with a 343. Moses once again sets the tone, firing a 73 to secure a runner-up individual finish and one of the top rounds of the tournament. Edwards follows with an 85, while Mullins adds a 94. Bayer also delivers one of the day’s most encouraging performances, shooting a personal-best 91. McMellian posts a 100, and Fischer adds a 103 as the Lady Eagles grind through the gusty conditions.

The two-day finish says plenty about the direction of the team.

Argyle not only earns another podium result, but does so by improving in tougher conditions against strong competition. Moses’ runner-up finish highlights the weekend, while Bayer’s personal-best round and the team’s second-day improvement underscore the growth happening throughout the lineup.

Next, the Lady Eagles return to North Texas to compete in the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association Memorial Tournament.
