Lady Eagles Finish Fourth at Bearcat Brawl
February 23-24, 2024
Split Rail Country Club / Squaw Creek Golf Course – Aledo / Willow Park, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles turn in a strong two-day performance at the Bearcat Brawl, finishing fourth overall against a talented field at one of the more competitive early-season events on the schedule.

Hosted by Aledo High School, the tournament gives the Lady Eagles another important test against quality competition. Argyle opens with a 344 at Split Rail Country Club in Aledo, then responds with a 328 in the final round at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Willow Park to finish with a 36-hole total of 672. That second-day push highlights both the team’s resilience and its ability to answer against a strong field.

Ryan Purczynski leads the way across both rounds, following an opening 82 with a strong 77 in the final round. Kate Rendon adds an 81 on day one, while Alex Mara posts scores of 89 and 86. Ana Edwards contributes rounds of 92 and 83, and Colbie Moses delivers one of the biggest improvements of the tournament for Argyle, trimming 11 shots from her first-round 93 to card an 82 on day two. Ansleigh Mullins rounds out the lineup with scores of 95 and 85.

That final round says plenty about the group.

Argyle cuts 16 shots off its opening-day team total and closes the tournament with momentum, a meaningful sign this early in the season. In an event featuring some of the state’s top teams, the Lady Eagles hold their own and continue to show growth against elite competition.

A fourth-place finish in a field of this caliber provides more than just a solid result on paper. It gives Argyle another valuable measuring stick and another opportunity to sharpen its lineup in a tournament setting that demands consistency over two days.

Next, the Lady Eagles head to East Texas to compete in the East Texas Open at Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater as they continue to build toward the heart of the season.
