It was a great day for the Lady Eagles, who took on one of the toughest courses of the season. They placed 8th out of 29 teams in the Open Varsity Division.


The team was led by senior Mara Reed, who placed 15th with a time of 20:46. Not far behind was freshman Madison Chapman, who ran 20:49 for 20th. The third runner for the lady Eagles was sophomore Sadie Cotter, who placed 66th, completing the course in a time of 21:56. Freshman Avery Cain was next, running 22:28 for 89th. Rounding out the team score was junior Sydney Lessley, who ran 22:42 to take 100th.


Also competing for the varsity team were juniors Emerson Payne and Emily Dallas. Payne finished the course in 22:45 to take 102nd, and Dallas placed 169th with 24:20.


Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete on Thursday morning at the Denton Braswell Little “D” Classic.
