Both Lady Eagles Teams Take 2nd at District 7-5A Meet

The Lady Eagles JV and Varsity teams were both runner-up at the District 7-5A meet this week, placing 2nd overall. The JV girls scored 113 points, while the Varsity team came away with 121. Both teams saw a number of personal records, and 15 athletes will advance to the area meet next week; some of them will compete in multiple events.
Each day, the meet began early in the morning with the field events. In the JV girls pole vault, freshman Heather Harbach jumped 6-6 to put 4 points on the board. In the Varsity division, junior Peyton Berry was the individual champion with a vault of 11-0. Freshman Dylan Wyrick also qualified for Area, placing 2nd with a vault of 10-6.
In the JV girls high jump, freshman Allie King jumped 4-6 for 5th place, putting points on the board for the Lady Eagles. Senior Shelby Reed and junior Madeline Zindel advanced to Area in the Varsity competition. Reed jumped 5-4 for 2nd, while Zindel placed 4th in a tie-breaker at 4-10.
Competing in the JV girls long jump were freshmen Kensley Vest and Heather Harbach. Vest took 7th with a throw of 13-4, while Harbach threw 13-1.50 for 9th. In the Varsity competition, senior Shaye Feely jumped 15-10.50 to place 5th.
Putting points on the board for the JV girls triple jump was junior Rylie Fenoglio, placing 6th with a jump of 27-6.75. Also competing were juniors Natalie Bartocci and Violeta Calva-Anguela. Bartocci jumped 26-4 for 8th place, while Calva-Anguela 25-1.50 for 9th. Competing for the Varsity girls was freshman Brooke Maupin, who placed 7th in the finals, with a jump of 33-7.50.
The Lady Eagles competed three athletes in the JV girls discus. Freshman Kara Campbell placed 9th with a throw of 62-0. Junior Rylie Jones threw a distance of 61-3 for 10th. Freshman Malaysia Bracy also competed, placing 18th with a throw of 42-2. Junior McKinley Carrier competed in the Varsity division, placing 4th with a throw of 101-8, and will advance to the Area meet. Senior Cora Crowell placed 7th with a throw of 98-10, while freshman Emma King threw 73-4 for 11th.
Sophomore Trinity Diggs medaled in the JV girls shot put, placing 3rd with a throw of 26-3. Also competing was junior Oritsesetanesan Nanna, who placed 10th with a throw of 23-9. In the Varsity girls division, freshman Emma King threw 31-2 to place 5th.
The running events were kicked off with the 3200m run. In the JV girls race, freshman Karson Riewerts placed 7th, running 13:52.85. Sophomore Ariana Hernandez was not far behind, placing 9th in a time of 14:34.11. In the Varsity race, freshman Brooke Kilpatrick took 9th, running a time of 13:08.17, while freshman Natalia Crnecki ran 13:48.24 for 13th.
All three Lady Eagles advanced to finals in the Varsity 100m hurdles. Shaye Feely claimed a spot at the area meet next week, placing 2nd with a time of 15.62. Juniors Zoey Tait and Emily Harbach placed 7th and 8th, running 18:22 and 19.99 respectively.
All three competitors also advanced to finals in the JV 100m dash. Freshman Saige Soell and junior Bella Jeffreys put points on the board, placing 2nd and 4th, with times of 13.33 and 13.62. Also competing in the finals was sophomore Londan Jordan, who placed 8th, with a time of 13.78. Competing in the Varsity 100m dash were senior Kendall Baker, freshman Mallory Kuykendall, and junior Estelle Davis. Davis ran 13.34 in prelims for 12th. In the finals, Baker placed 2nd, running 12.84 and advancing to the Area meet, while Kuykendall placed 6th in 13.28.
In the JV 400m dash, all three Lady Eagles advanced to finals, where they took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Sophomores Ayla Feely and Ellen Emeterio, and freshman Landry Murphy ran 1:04.17, 1:04.26, and 1:05.58 respectively, scoring a combined total of 18 points. The Varsity division followed in a similar fashion, with all three competitors advancing to finals. Sophomore Blair Mosley and senior Laiken Zamzow punched their tickets to Area, placing 2nd and 4th with times of 1:00.64 and 1:01.63. Junior Zoe Jackson also placed 7th with a time of 1:03.90.
The Varsity 300m hurdles race saw sophomore Teagan Tarrant placing 11th in prelims, running 55.39. In the finals, freshman Kate Brooks and junior Zoey Tait placed 2nd and 4th, running 49.03 and 50.56. They will both be advancing to the Area meet.
Competing in the JV girls 200m dash, freshman Eva Robinson and junior Bella Jeffreys advanced to finals, where they placed 3rd and 5th. Robinson ran 27.62, while Jeffreys finished in 28.30. In the Varsity division, junior Madeline Zindel ran 27.70 for 11th in prelims. In the finals, freshman Mallory Kuykendall and sophomore Blair Mosley ran 26.98 and 27.28 to place 5th and 6th.
The JV girls 4X100m relay were your team champions, running 51.13 for 1st. This team consisted of sophomores Londan Jordan, LeiLani De Leon, freshman Saige Soell, and sophomore Bella Jeffreys. The Varsity girls will be moving on to Area with a 2nd place finish to Denton Ryan. The crew of senior Kendall Baker, freshman Mallory Kuykendall, senior Shaye Feely, and freshman Brooke Maupin finished in a time of 49.51.
The JV girls 800m saw all three of Argyle’s athletes putting a combined total of 18 points on the board. Sophomore Emerson Payne won the race handily, running 2:36.34. Junior Sophie Deneault also medaled, placing 3rd in a time of 2:39.61. Junior Adelyn Smith also scored with her 5th place finish, running 2:43.00. In the Varsity race, junior Mara Reed punched her ticket to Area, placing 3rd with a time of 2:24.87. Also competing were freshmen Aoife Journagan and Sadie Cotter, who placed 7th and 8th. They ran 2:37.22 and 2:38.08 respectively.
The Varsity girls 4X200m will also be advancing to the Area meet, after running a time of 1:44.83 to place 2nd. Competing on this team were senior Kendall Baker, junior Emily Harbach, senior Laiken Zamzow, and freshman Brooke Maupin.
In the JV girls 1600m run, sophomore Emerson Payne led for the Lady Eagles, placing 4th with a new PR of 5:56.98. Also competing were junior Sophie Deneault and freshman Shayni Kinsey, who placed 8th and 10th, and ran times of 6:05.03 and 6:31.78. In the Varsity race, junior Mara Reed placed 6th with a time of 5:37.95. Freshman Sadie Cotter ran 5:52.19 to place 9th, and sophomore Sydney Lessley finished 12th in a time of 6:03.
The meet concluded with the JV girls 4X400m taking first. They ran a close race, finishing in 4:18.15 to beat Denton Ryan’s 4:18.54. This team consisted of sophomore Ellen Emeterio, Freshman Landry Murphy and Kensley Vest, and sophomore LeiLani De Leon.
The Lady Eagles have 15 athletes advancing to the Area meet. They will compete next Friday at Carrico Stadium.
