Lady Eagles Face Tough Competition in Stormy Conditions at Byron Nelson

Due to inclement weather, all field events other than shot put and discus were canceled this week. The Lady Eagles pursued tough competition this week in hopes of running new PR’s. This field included about thirteen schools, eight of which were 6A.
The Varsity team came in eighth overall, with only one 5A school pulling ahead (Denton Ryan). The JV girls placed 4th as a team, with Denton Ryan as the only 5A school ahead as well. All in all, the women’s track and field teams rose to the occasion, earning several new personal bests, and breaking one school record.
In the first event of the day, the Lady Eagles faced rainy and cold conditions for the 3200m run. Competing for the JV team were senior Jade Beaulieu, and freshmen Keira Brassell and Sahasra Tiyyagura. Beaulieu led the trio, placing 16th with a time of 14:47. Brassell and Tiyyagura both ran new PR’s of 14:49 and 16:28 to place 17th and 18th. In a deep field, with one of the top 50 performances in Texas, the Varsity girls placed 16th and 19th. Sophomore Emily Dallas ran a time of 12:55, while freshman Natalia Crnecki completed the race in 14:25.
Following the 3200m at this meet was the 100m hurdles. Freshman Kate Brooks represented the team in the JV division, running 18.24 for 7th. The Varsity girls put 8 points on the board. Leading was senior Shaye Feely, who placed 3rd with a time of 15.36. Following closely behind was junior Emily Harbach, who ran 15.74 for 5th. Also competing was junior Zoey Tait, who placed 14th with 17.69.
The weather cleared up just in time to run off the shot put and discus events. Competing in the JV girls division were junior Rylie Jones, and freshmen Kara Campbell and Malaysia Bracey. They placed 20th, 21st, and 24th respectively, throwing 54-9, 53-8 (a new PR for Campbell), and 38-2. For the Varsity girls, senior Cora Crowell took 7th place, setting a new school record of 110-9. Junior McKinely Carrier also had a great day, placing 13th with a throw of 101-2.
Competing for the JV girls, freshman Emma King, sophomore Trinity Diggs, and junior
Oritsesetenesan Nanna took 4th, 6th, and 24th. They threw 27-5, 25-9.25, and 19-10.75 respectively, with King and Diggs obtaining new personal bests.
The afternoon running events began with the JV girls 4X200m dash. This week’s crew consisted of sophomores London Jordan, LeiLani De Leon, Blair Mosley, and freshman Saige Soell, who ran away with the race, finishing first with a time of 50.42. The Varsity girls took 7th place, running 49.77. This team consisted of seniors Kendall Baker and Shaye Feely, junior Estelle Davis, and freshman Brooke Maupin.
Next was the JV 100m dash, in which freshman Saige Soell and sophomore Alexa Garcia led the way for the Lady Eagles. They placed 5th and 6th, running times of 13.32 and 13.34. This was a new PR for Garcia. Sophomore Londan Jordan also competed, placing 12th with a time of 13.67. In the Varsity race, and putting points on the board for Argyle was senior Kendall Baker. She ran 12.70 to place 5th. Also competing were juniors Estelle Davis and Peyton Berry. They placed 18th and 22nd, running times of 13.12 and 13.40.
The JV 800m crew also achieved several personal bests. Junior Adelyn Smith ran her PR of 2:41.25 to place 16th, while sophomore Ariana Hernandez also ran her PR of 2:50.95 to place 21st. Also competing was sophomore London Fry, who placed 26th with a time of 2:59.65. Leading for Argyle in the Varsity 800m was junior Mara Reed, who tied her PR of 2:27.98 to place 13th. In a close finish, freshman Sadie Cotter and sophomore Emerson Payne both ran new personal bests of 2:33.47 and 2:35.25, placing 21st and 22nd.
In the 4X200m relay, the JV girls led the race for a 1st place finish, completing the race in a time of 1:48.91. The team consisted of sophomores Bella Jeffreys, Alexa Garcia, Blair Mosley, and freshman Saige Soell. The Varsity girls team took 4th place, running 1:45.32. In this 29event, Argyle competed seniors Kendall Baker, Laiken Zamzow, junior Emily Harbach, and freshman Brooke Maupin.
Sophomore Ayla Feely and freshman Landry Murphy ran new PR’s in the JV girls 400m dash. They placed 8th and 10th, running 1:06.04 and 1:06.84 respectively. Leading the Varsity girls 400m crew was senior Laiken Zamzow, who placed 8th with a time of 1:03.28. Also competing were junior Madeline Zindel and sophomore Ellie Emeterio. They finished in times of 1:05.96 and 1:07.13, placing 21st and 26th.
Scoring points for the Lady Eagles in the Varsity girls 300m hurdles was freshman Kate Brookes. She placed 6th, running 50.16. Also competing were sophomore Teagan Tarrant and junior Zoey Tait. They placed 18th and 20th, running times of 53.01 and 55.41.
Leading in the JV 200m dash, sophomore Bella Jeffreys placed 4th, running 28.10. Junior Zoe Jackson also competed, running a new PR of 28.50 to place 6th. In 16th place was sophomore Londan Jordan, who completed the race in a time of 29.41. Running a new PR in the Varsity division was freshman Brooke Maupin, placing 14th with 27.38. In 19th and 20th were sophomore Alexa Garcia and junior Madeline Zindel, who ran 27.98 and 28.07 respectively.
Competing for the Lady Eagles in the JV 1600m run were sophomores Sydney Lessley and Ariana Hernandez. They placed 18th and 21st, finishing in times of 6:10.00 and 6:39.29. The Varsity division was led by Junior Mara Reed, who placed 12th with a time of 5:43.83. Also competing were sophomore Emily Dallas and freshman Sadie Cotter. They finished the race in times of 5:56.97 and 5:59.22 to place 16th and 19th.
The JV girls swept the relay races, placing 1st in the 4X400m with a time of 4:23.77. The team consisted of sophomore Ellie Emeterio, freshman Landry Murphy and Kate Brooks, sophomore Blair Mosley. The Varsity team placed 3rd, running 4:13.95. The 4X400m crew consisted of junior Emily Harbach, sophomore LeiLani De Leon, and seniors Shaye Feely and Laiken Zamzow.
The next meet for the Lady Eagles will be the Guyer High School relays on March 22nd.
