The JV & Varsity Lady Eagles experienced a lot of success at our home meet yesterday. The Varsity girls took second place to 6A Keller Timber Creek, and the JV girls came home with the team championship. Many personal and season bests were achieved despite rainy and cold conditions.
The meet kicked off with the JV girls 3200m run, in which junior Adelyn Smith, freshman Karson Riewerts, and sophomore Margaret Schmidt took 8th, 9th, and 10th. Adelyn Smith ran her personal best time of 13:44, while Karson Riewerts made her debut in the event in 13:53. Margaret Schmidt also ran close to her PR, finishing in 13:59. In the Varsity division, the Lady Eagles took 8th, 10th, and 11th. Freshmen Sadie Cotter, Natalia Crnecki, and sophomore Emily Dallas all ran new personal bests. They finished in 12:38, 12:48, and 12:58 respectively.
The next event was the JV girls 4X100m relay, in which Argyle edged out Keller to take first place in 51.01. The relay team consisted of sophomores Londan Jordan, LeiLani De Leon, Alexa Garcia, and Blair Mosley. The Varsity relay was also able to hold off Krum for 1st place, finishing in a time of 49.47. The team consisted of seniors Kendall Baker, Shaye Feely, Laiken Zamzow, and freshman Mallory Kuykendall.
Following the 4X100m was the JV 800m dash. Freshman Brooke Kilpatrick put points on the board, placing 6th, with a time of 2:41.42. Following closely behind was sophomore Sophie Deneault, placing 7th with a time of 2:45.40. Also competing for the Lady Eagles was sophomore London Fry, who set a new PR in a time of 2:56.79 to place 12th. In the Varsity division, Mara Reed set a new personal best time, running 2:27.63 to place 4th. Also competing for the Lady Eagles were freshman Aoife Journagan and sophomore Emerson Payne. Aoife finished the race in 2:36.09 to place 9th, while Emerson set a new PR of 2:36.53 to place 10th.
In the JV 100m hurdles, sophomore Ella Stanzel and freshman Kate Brooks took first and second, running times of 17.97 and 18.11 respectively. Sophomore Teagan Tarrant also competed, running 20.98 to place 15th. In the Varsity Division, Shaye Feely took first place, finishing the race in a time of 15.31. With a time of 16.22, junior Emily Harbach placed 3rd, while junior Zoey Tait ran 20.94 to place 2nd.
The Lady Eagles experienced equal success in the 100m dash. Freshman Saige Soell won the event in a time of 13.21, while junior Bella Jeffreys placed 3rd, finishing in 13.40. Also competing was sophomore Ayla Feely, who placed 5th with a time of 13.82. In the Varsity race, senior Kendall Baker took second place, running a time of 12.73. Also scoring points for the Lady Eagles were freshman Mallory Kuykendall and junior Estelle Davis. They placed 4th and 5th, running times of 13.16 and 13.19 respectively.
The JV girls 4X200m relay ran away with the competition, placing first with a time of 1:48.66; this was almost 4 seconds in front of 2nd place Keller. This relay consisted of sophomores Londan Jordan, LeiLani DeLeon, Alexa Garcia, and Blair Mosley. The Varsity girls ran a close race with Krum, taking 2nd with a time of 1:47.12.
The next event was the JV 400m dash, in which freshman Landry Murphy, sophomore Ayla Feely, and junior Adelyn Smith placed 4th, 6th, and 9th. They finished in times of 1:07.75, 1:08.18, and 1:12.35 respectively. In the Varsity division, senior Laiken Zamzow came close to breaking the 60 second barrier, finishing in a time of 1:00.06 to place 2nd. Also competing was sophomore Ellie Emeterio, who finished 7th in a time of 1:04.82.
In the JV 300m hurdles, sophomore Teagan Tarrant took 3rd place with a time of 52.77, putting points on the board for the Lady Eagles. Competing in the Varsity division were freshman Kate Brooks and junior Zoey Tait. They placed 3rd and 6th, finishing the race in times of 49.59 and 54.40 respectively.
Putting 15 points on the board for the team in the JV 200m dash were junior Bella Jeffreys, and freshmen Saige Soell and Kensley Vest. They took 3rd, 4th, and 6th, running times of 27.92, 28.17, and 29.13 respectively. Competing in the Varsity race were sophomores Alexa Garcia and Madeline Zindel, and junior Estelle Davis. They finished the race in times of 27.28, 28.06, and 28.23 to take 6th, 8th, and 10th.
In the JV 1600m, freshman Natalia Crnecki ran a new PR of 5:52 to place 5th. Following closely behind was sophomore Sydney Lessley, who placed 5th with a time of 5:54. Also competing was freshman Brooke Kilpatrick, who ran 6:13 to place 11th. Finishing in a close race, Mara Reed placed 5th, with a time of 5:31. Also competing were freshman Sadie Cotter and sophomore Emily Dallas, who placed 11th and 12th with times of 5:47 and 5:52.This was a new PR for Emily.
The JV girls 4X400m relay closed the sweep for the relays, placing first with a time of 4:23.11. The team consisted of sophomores Ellie Emeterio, LeiLani DeLeon, Blair Mosley, and freshman Kate Brooks. The Varsity girls relay took 2nd to Keller Timber Creek, finishing in a time of 4:07.69. The relay team consisted of junior Emily Harbach, sophomore Madeline Zindel, and seniors Shaye Feely and Laiken Zamzow.
The Lady Eagles earned a number of points in the field events later in the day, despite performing in the rain and sleet. In the JV girls long jump, freshman Kate Brooks placed 3rd with a mark of 14-10.25. Also competing were sophomore Ella Stanzel and junior McKinley Carrier, who placed 6th and 8th, jumping 13-8.75 and 13-1.50. In the Varsity division were seniors Shaye Feely and Gabby Campbell, and junior Zoey Tait. They placed 4th, 5th, and 7th, jumping 15-8.75, 15-8.50, and 14-11.50 respectively.
Competing in the JV girls triple jump were juniors Rylie Fenoglio, Natalie Bartocci, and Violeta Calva Anguela, who all scored points. The trio placed 4th, 5th, and 6th with jumps of 26-6.50, 25-8, and 23-6. The Varsity girls triple jumpers also all scored points for the team; a total of 19 to be exact. They were led by freshman Brooke Maupin, who won the event with a jump of 34-0.50. In 2nd place was senior Gabby Campbell, who jumped 33-5.50. Also competing for the Lady Eagles was junior Kaylee Combs, who jumped 31-3 to place 6th.
In the JV girls shot put, freshman Emma King placed 3rd, throwing a mark of 25-10. In 5th was sophomore Trinity Diggs, who threw 23-11. Also competing was junior Oritsesetenesen Nanna, who placed 7th with a throw of 22-11. In the Varsity division freshmen Langley Shank and Brooklyn Norenheim placed 8th and 9th, throwing 23-6 and 22-8.50 respectively.
Competing in the JV girls discus were junior Rylie Jones, and freshman Malaysia Bracy and Kara Campbell. They placed 8th, 11th, and 12th, throwing 57-8, 46-7, and 40-0 respectively. The Varsity division saw the Lady Eagles sweeping the board, with junior McKinley Carrier and senior Cora Crowell taking 1st and 2nd, with throws of 101-6 and 97-11.
The high jump and pole vault occurred at the end of the meet, and the JV divisions did not compete due to the arrival of inclement weather. In the Varsity high jump, senior Shelby Reed won the competition with a jump of 5’0”. Sophomore Teagan Tarrant tied for 2nd place, also with a jump of 5’0”. Additionally, sophomore Ella Stanzel scored points, placing 4th with a jump of 4’10”. In the Varsity pole vault, junior Peyton Berry took first, jumping 10-6, while freshman Dylan Wyrick placed 3rd, with a jump of 10-0.
Overall, it was a great day for the Lady Eagles Track and Field team. Next week, they will compete at the Byron Nelson Invitational.
