The Lady Eagles competed at the Denton Ryan Invitational on Thursday, February 8th. The track and field team saw a number of personal bests to open up the 2024 season.
The Lady Eagles began the meet by putting points on the board in the 3200m. Freshman Natalia Crnecki ran a new PR of 12:58 to take 3rd in the race. Next was sophomore Margaret Schmidt, who ran 13:59 to take 13th. Sophomore Ariana Hernandez and junior Adelyn Smith also ran new personal bests of 14:06 and 14:26 respectively. Senior Jade Beauleiu was the 5th runner for the Lady Eagles, finishing the race in 14:36. Also racing the 3200m were sophomore Zayra Villalobos, freshman Chloe Rose, and sophomore Ella Artho, who ran new personal bests of 15:13, 15:17, and 15:50 respectively.
First for the Lady Eagles in the 100m dash was senior Kendall Baker, covering the distance in 12.96. She was followed by freshman Mallory Kuykendall, who ran 13.19. Junior Estelle Davis was the 3rd runner for the Lady Eagles, running 13.25. Following closely behind were junior Peyton Berry and sophomore Londan Jordan, running 13.47 & 13.48 respectively. Freshman Saige Soell made her debut for Argyle High School, running 13.59. Sophomore Alexa Garcia and sophomore Brooklyn Stringfellow also competed in the 100m, running personal bests of 13.75 and 13.90.
The next event was the 800m run. Junior Mara Reed led the way, running 2:35.40 to place 9th. Following closely behind was freshman Aoife Journagan, who placed 10th, running a new PR of 2:35.96. The next three runners were freshmen Brooke Kilpatrick, Sadie Cotter, and sophomore Emerson Payne, who all ran PR’s of 2:36.57, 2:39.38, and 2:40.23 respectively. Also competing for the Lady Eagles were junior Sophie Deneault, freshman Karson Riwerts, and senior Hope Davidson, finishing the race in 2:41.49, 2:44.00, and 2:46.36.
Junior Emily Harbach led the way in the 400m dash, placing 5th, with a PR of 1:01.31. Senior Laiken Zamzow placed 8th for the Lady Eagles, finishing the race in 1:02.05. Next for Argyle was sophomore Madeline Zindel, running 1:04.56. She was followed by sophomores Emily Dallas and LeiLani De Leon, who ran personal bests of 1:05.98 and 1:06.02. Also competing for the Lady Eagles were sophomores Ellie Emeterio, Ayla Feely, and Ella Stanzel, who ran 1:06.47, 1:08.48, and 1:11.27.
In the 300m hurdles, freshman Kate Brooks placed 7th with a time of 50.44. Also competing was junior Zoey Tait, completing the race in 55.63 seconds.
In a deep field in the 200m dash, senior Laiken Zamzow placed 11th, with a PR of 26.80. She was followed by senior Kendall Baker, who ran a PR of 27.03. Next was sophomore Blair Mosely, with a new PR of 27.48. Senior Shaye Feely ran her personal best time as well, finishing the race in 27.84. Also competing for the Lady Eagles were freshman Sage Soell, and sophomores LeiLani De Leon, Alexa Garcia, and Londan Jordan. They ran times of 28.11, 28.34, 28.38, and 29.19 respectively.
In the final running event, junior Mara Reed led the way, placing 6th in the 1600m with a time of 5:48. Freshman Sadie Cotter followed closely, running a time of 5:51 to place 8th. Next were sophomore Emily Dallas and freshman Brooke Kilpatrick, finishing the race in 5:59 and 6:01. Also competing for the Lady Eagles were junior Sophie Denault, and sophomore Margaret Schmidt, who ran personal bests of 6:10 and 6:30.
In girls Discus, Senior Cora Crowell started off the 2024 season with a 4th place finish, throwing 103-06.00. Also competing in the event was junior McKinley Carrier, who threw 96-02.00 to place 7th.
