The top golf teams in UIL’s Class 5A met in Georgetown to test their skills on the Legacy Hills Course at Sun City. Last year, Legacy Hills was the site of the 6A State Championships, but in 2024, the 5A and 6A sites have swapped venues to give the competitors a chance to experience more of what Sun City Golf offers.
Argyle was paired with Montgomery Lake Creek (2023 3rd place team) and
Kerrville Tivy for the first round of play. Junior Ryan Purczynski shot a round of 76 to put herself in contention, with Senior Kate Rendon’s opening round of 80 following. Sophomores Colbie Moses and Alex Mara’s rounds of 87 and 88 and junior Ana Edwards’ 92 gave the Lady Eagles an opening round score of 331.
Playing with Friendswood and Bourne Champion, the Eagles shot a second-round score of 340 to finish in 9th place. Purczynski shot another 76, Moses followed with an 83, Rendon an 88, Edwards 93, and Mara a 95 individually. The girls were able to compete with teams from across the state and gain experience on the course of the 5A state championship.
This tournament concludes the fall portion of their schedule. The Lady Eagles will be back in tournament competition in the spring at Texarkana CC, Split Rail CC, Squaw Creek, and The Rawls Course in preparation for a return to Sun City in May.
