Lady Eagles Dominate District 7-5A Tournament, Argyle 2 Adds Fifth-Place Finish
April 4-5, 2023
The Golf Club at Champions Circle – Fort Worth, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles turn the District 7-5A Tournament into a statement, winning the team championship in commanding fashion while also placing a second squad inside the top five at The Golf Club at Champions Circle.

Facing Grapevine, Colleyville Heritage, Lake Dallas, Birdville, Richland, Denton, and Denton Ryan, Argyle’s top team controls the tournament from start to finish. The Lady Eagles post rounds of 310 and 326 for a 36-hole total of 636, finishing well clear of runner-up Colleyville Heritage at 691 and third-place Lake Dallas at 707. Argyle’s second team also delivers a strong showing, carding rounds of 373 and 363 for a 736 total and a fifth-place finish.

At the top of the leaderboard, Argyle leaves no doubt.

Senior Madison Wert captures individual medalist honors with back-to-back rounds of 72 for a 144 total, while sophomore Ryan Purczynski finishes runner-up at 150 after rounds of 73 and 77. Junior Kate Rendon adds another strong finish with scores of 82 and 84, good for sixth overall. Freshman Colbie Moses places 11th with rounds of 83 and 93, and sophomore Ana Edwards rounds out the varsity lineup with an 86 and 103.

That front-line production powers Argyle to the district title and fills the All-District team with Lady Eagles. Wert and Purczynski earn first-team All-District honors, Rendon claims second-team recognition, and Moses adds honorable mention recognition as Argyle places four golfers on the All-District list.

Argyle’s second team adds more evidence of the program’s depth.

Ansleigh Mullins leads the way with rounds of 93 and 87 for a 180 total. Allison Giese follows with a 90 and 95, while Ari Davies shows one of the strongest day-two improvements in the field, trimming 13 shots from a 99 to an 86. Freshman Alex Mara contributes rounds of 91 and 95, and Sofia Wolfe closes with a 114 and 99 as Argyle’s second group battles to a fifth-place finish.

The result says plenty about the state of the program.

Argyle not only wins the district championship, but does so with individual medalist honors, a runner-up finish, multiple All-District selections, and a second team that also places in the top five. That is the kind of across-the-board strength that championship programs build over time.

With the district title secured, Argyle now advances to the 5A Region I Tournament at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, where the Lady Eagles will represent District 7 and continue their postseason run.
