Sunset City and White Wing Golf Club welcomed the top 20 5A Teams in the state to compete in the 5A State Preview. The Lady Eagles were eager to get the opportunity to compete with the best in their newly aligned 5A classification.

A slow-moving system produced over a quarter of an inch of rain during the first round. The downpours caused the course to play extremely long and exhausting for players, coaches, and spectators.

After warming up before the sun rose, Ryan Purczynski, a sophomore, led the Lady Eagles by shooting an 80. Senior Madison Wert shot an 81, and Ana Coor, a junior, shot 97, as Junior Kate Rendon and freshman Colbie Moses shot 100 and 104.

Round two brought much drier but cooler temperatures. Purczynski and Wert came back to shoot 75 as Corro shot an 86. Rendon and Moses both fired a 93 to complete the team scoring. The 29-stroke improvement between rounds 1 and 2 was a great example of how difficult the course played on Friday.

The girls next head east to Texarkana for the Jay Brewer Memorial at Texarkana Country Club.
