Lady Eagles Close Fall at Jay Brewer Memorial in Texarkana
November 11-12, 2022
Texarkana Country Club – Texarkana, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles close the fall season with another competitive showing at the Jay Brewer Memorial, finishing sixth at Texarkana Country Club against a strong field of 5A and 6A programs from across Texas.
Played at one of the state’s most distinctive venues, the event offers the Lady Eagles both a demanding test and a memorable setting. Texarkana Country Club, long known for its towering pine trees, rolling hills, and firm, sloping greens, challenges every part of a golfer’s game. The course’s reputation only adds to the feel of the weekend, giving the tournament a championship-caliber atmosphere from the first tee shot to the final putt.
Argyle responds with two steady rounds and a 36-hole total of 668, posting scores of 332 and 336 to finish sixth overall.
Madison Wert and Ryan Purczynski lead the way for the Lady Eagles, each opening with a 78 in the first round. Wert follows with a 79 on day two, while Purczynski adds an 82 to give Argyle a strong presence near the top of the lineup throughout the event. Ana Corro contributes another balanced two-day performance with rounds of 84 and 85, while Kate Rendon improves from a 92 in the opening round to a 90 in the final round. Colbie Moses rounds out the team scoring with back-to-back 94s.
The finish reflects another encouraging step for the Lady Eagles in a field loaded with larger-school competition. Against a high-level group of teams from North Texas and the Houston area, Argyle once again proves it can compete, hold its place, and continue building momentum.
More than anything, the tournament serves as a fitting close to the fall portion of the schedule. The Lady Eagles leave Texarkana with another strong benchmark, more experience against elite competition, and a clear sense of where the program stands heading into the spring.
Argyle next returns to tournament play in February 2023.
COMPETE WITH JOY
