Lady Eagles Capture First NTHSGCA Memorial Scholarship Tournament Title
February 17-18, 2023
Lake Park Golf Course – Lewisville, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles open another strong spring stretch by winning the NTHSGCA Memorial Scholarship Tournament for the first time, turning in a two-day championship performance at Lake Park Golf Course.

Hosted annually by the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association, the tournament honors former North Texas high school golf coaches and supports two scholarships awarded each year. In a field filled with quality competition, Argyle rises to the top with rounds of 329 and 323 for a 36-hole total of 652.

The opening round begins in brutal conditions.

The Lady Eagles tee off at 7:30 a.m. with temperatures well below freezing, but the weather does little to slow them down. Senior Madison Wert leads the way with a 75, setting the tone for the lineup from the start. Junior Kate Rendon and freshman Colbie Moses each add 84s, sophomore Ryan Purczynski contributes an 86, and sophomore Ari Davies rounds out the scoring with a 103 as Argyle puts itself in strong position heading into the final round.

Day two brings the opportunity to finish.

Starting the final round in second place and paired with Denton Guyer and Colleyville Heritage, the Lady Eagles respond with their best team score of the tournament. Wert once again leads the charge, firing a 73 to claim individual medalist honors and complete a dominant weekend at the top of the board. Purczynski improves by seven shots with a 79, Rendon follows with an 82, and Moses closes with an 89 to finish with a personal-best 36-hole total of 173.

That final-round push gives Argyle the tournament title and marks another major step forward for the program.

Winning at Lake Park requires more than one good score. It demands toughness in difficult conditions, steady play across the lineup, and the ability to improve when the pressure rises. The Lady Eagles do all three, turning a cold, competitive weekend into the first NTHSGCA Memorial Scholarship Tournament championship in program history.

Next, Argyle heads to Aledo for the Bearcat Brawl at Split Rail Links and Squaw Creek Golf Course before traveling to Lubbock next month for the 5A Region I Preview at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech.
