Lady Eagles Finish Third at District 6-5A Tournament, Argyle 2 Places Fifth; Moses and Mara Advance to Regionals
April 6-7, 2026
Oakmont Country Club – Corinth, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles turn the District 6-5A Tournament into a full-program statement, placing third as a team, putting a second squad inside the top five, and sending two golfers on to the regional tournament.
Over two days at Oakmont Country Club, Argyle posts rounds of 332 and 339 for a 36-hole total of 671 to finish third in one of the tighter district races of the spring. Grapevine edges Colleyville Heritage for the district title by a single shot, 613-614, while Argyle 2 adds a fifth-place finish at 787 to give the Lady Eagles two teams in the top five.
At the top of the board, Colbie Moses and Alex Mara lead the way and earn the two individual regional-qualifying spots for Argyle. Moses cards back-to-back 77s for a 154 total and a fourth-place finish, while Mara follows with rounds of 76 and 79 for a 155 and sixth place. That one-two senior punch keeps the Lady Eagles in the mix throughout the tournament and now carries Argyle west to the Region I Tournament at LakeRidge Country Club in Lubbock, where both will compete for a place at the UIL 5A State Tournament.
The varsity lineup also gets important scoring depth throughout the event. Hailey Perkins finishes 14th at 178, giving Argyle another player inside the top 15. Sloane McMellian comes in 19th at 184 and closes with a day-two 89, a personal best and one of the bright spots of the final round. Lily Bayer rounds out the varsity scoring with a 189, good for 21st, as the Lady Eagles put together the balanced effort needed to secure a top-three finish in a strong district field.
Argyle 2 turns in a competitive performance of its own and adds another layer to the program’s postseason picture. Emerson Fischer leads the second team with a 182 and a 17th-place finish. Scarlett Sommer follows at 198, while Victoria Franciscus adds a 204 and Sophia Estrada posts a 206. Brooklin Hozbo rounds out the group with a 224 as Argyle 2 claims fifth overall.
What stands out most is the overall presence of the program on the leaderboard. Argyle places two players in the top six, adds another finisher inside the top 15, and sees its second team battle its way into the top five. That kind of across-the-board production says plenty about the depth of the Lady Eagles as the postseason continues.
For Argyle, district play becomes about more than placement alone. It becomes a test of poise, balance, and the ability to perform under pressure. The Lady Eagles answer with a third-place team finish, a fifth-place finish from Argyle 2, and two regional qualifiers at the top of the board.
Now the focus shifts to Lubbock.
With Oakmont behind them, Moses and Mara carry Argyle into the Region I Tournament at LakeRidge Country Club, where the stakes rise again and the road to state comes into sharper view.
COMPETE WITH JOY
