It was a crisp morning for day one of the District 6-5A Championships.
The day began with the field events. Freshman Janaya Harrison took 3rd overall in the long jump with 14-04.75. Also competing was freshman Hailey Tucker, who jumped 13-10.50 for 9th.
In the shot put, the Lady Eagles took 6th and 7th. Freshmen Grace Munster and Sophie Beaulieu threw 27-10.50 and 26-5.50 respectively.
The running events began with the 3200m run, in which junior Karson Riewerts and freshman Grace DeFilippo competed. Riewerts finished 7th in 13:34.21, and DeFilippo ran a new PR of 13:52.44 for 8th.
In the 100m hurdles, freshman Halima Jiya and sophomore Sailor Farda took 2nd & 3rd. Jiya finished in 17.67, while Farda finished in 17.74. Both will be advancing to the finals tomorrow.
Sophomore Taylor Thomas took 2nd place in the 100m with a time of 13.09. Also competing were sophomores Katie Killoren and Hannah Childs, who finished 7th and 8th in 13.70 and 13:78 respectively. All will be advancing to the finals tomorrow.
Competing in the 400m run was junior Natalia Crnecki. She placed 8th overall with a time of 1:06.60, earning her a spot in the finals.
Advancing in the 300m hurdles was freshman Halima Jiya, who finished 3rd in a time of 53.77. Also competing was sophomore Makenzie Murphy, who placed 10th overall.
Coming in first place overall was sophomore Taylor Thomas. She finished in a time of 26.88. Next was freshman Reagan McCullough, who placed 3rd with 27.28. Also competing was sophomore Hannah Childs, who ran 28.46 for 8th. All will advance to the finals on Tuesday.
