Lady Eagles Set Season Lows at 4A Region I Preview
March 1-2, 2019
Shadow Hills Golf Course – Lubbock, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles turn in one of their strongest regular-season performances of the spring at the 4A Region I Preview at Shadow Hills Golf Course.
As a regional preview event, the tournament gives Argyle an early look at one of the most important courses on the schedule and a chance to measure itself against strong Region I competition. The Lady Eagles take advantage, posting their lowest 18-hole and 36-hole team totals of the season while continuing to build momentum for the championship stretch ahead.
Argyle opens with a season-best 344 in the first round, led by junior Hannah Wood’s 79. Senior Molly Yarbrough follows with an 84, while Madelyn Diomede adds an 87. Seniors Kenzie Sullivan and Sarah Greiner each card 94s as the Lady Eagles put together their best team score of the year to that point.
The second round brings bitter cold temperatures, but Argyle responds with another steady performance. The Lady Eagles post a 345 to finish with a 36-hole total of 689, setting a new season low over two rounds and showing the consistency strong teams look for in a preview event like this.
Wood again leads the way in the final round, firing a 77 to finish at 156 and earn fourth-place medalist honors. Yarbrough shoots an 86, Diomede adds an 88, Sullivan posts another 94, and Greiner finishes with a 96 to round out the scoring.
For Argyle, the weekend delivers exactly what a regional preview is meant to provide: valuable experience, a better understanding of the course, and confidence gained from competing well against quality teams. The Lady Eagles leave Lubbock with their best team numbers of the season and a clearer picture of what it takes to score well at Shadow Hills.
Argyle now turns its attention to the next stretch of the regular season, with upcoming events at Plum Creek in Kyle, Rockwood in Fort Worth, and Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch before postseason play begins.
