Lady Eagles Finish Fourth at Lady Pirate Classic
October 26-27, 2018
Harbor Lakes Golf Course – Granbury, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles continue a strong fall run with a fourth-place finish at the Lady Pirate Classic, competing at Harbor Lakes Golf Course against another field loaded with successful UIL 5A programs.
For the third straight tournament, the Lady Eagles test themselves against larger-school competition and respond with one of their best performances of the season. Argyle posts rounds of 372 and 353 for a 36-hole total of 725, using a season-best team round on day two to hold off Abilene Cooper and secure fourth place overall.
The second round sets the tone for the finish.
After opening with a 372, the Lady Eagles come back with their best round of the fall, a 353, showing both resilience and improvement as the tournament unfolds. That closing push allows Argyle to climb and stay in front of the chasing teams in the final standings.
Hannah Wood leads the way for the Lady Eagles with one of the standout rounds of the event. The junior rebounds from an opening 98 to fire a season-best 77 in the final round, finishing ninth individually and giving Argyle a major lift on day two. Molly Yarbrough also turns in a steady tournament with rounds of 91 and 88, while Madelyn Diomede adds scores of 88 and 93. Kenzie Sullivan contributes a 101 and 95, and Sarah Greiner rounds out the lineup with rounds of 95 and 101.
For Argyle, the result says plenty about the team’s direction. Against another highly competitive field, the Lady Eagles continue to lower scores, improve from round to round, and prove they can compete with some of the stronger programs in the region.
Argyle next returns home to host its upcoming tournament at Denton Country Club on Nov. 5.
