Lady Eagles Battle Rain and Cold at Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament
October 12, 2018
Lake Park Golf Course – Lewisville, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles take on difficult weather, a demanding course setup, and one of the strongest fields in North Texas at the Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament, finishing eighth overall at Lake Park Golf Course.
Hosted by the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association along with Lake Dallas High School and Frisco High School, the “Fast Freddy” honors longtime Lewisville head coach Fred Willis, one of the most respected figures in North Texas high school golf. For Argyle, the event provides another high-level test against larger-school competition.
The conditions make that test even tougher.
Heavy rain and the first cool weather of the season greet the Lady Eagles at Lake Park, and Argyle also faces the added challenge of playing from the men’s tees as the only 4A school in the field. Even with those obstacles, the Lady Eagles respond with their lowest team round of the season, posting a 360 to finish eighth overall.
Madelyn Diomede and Molly Yarbrough lead the way for Argyle, each carding an 87 to pace the lineup. Hannah Wood follows with a 92, Kenzie Sullivan adds a 94, and Sarah Greiner rounds out the scoring with a 95.
For the Lady Eagles, the day becomes about more than the final placement. Competing through rain, cooler temperatures, and a longer setup, Argyle shows toughness and continues to lower its team numbers against strong North Texas competition.
The Lady Eagles next travel to Granbury to compete in the Lady Pirate Invitational at Harbor Lakes on Oct. 26-27.
COMPETE WITH JOY
