Lady Eagles Finish Runner-Up at 4A Region I Preview

The Argyle Lady Eagles continue a strong spring stretch with a runner-up finish at the 4A Region I Preview, turning in another important early-season performance against some of the top teams in Region I.
Facing a course and style of play far different from what they see in North Texas, the Lady Eagles respond with steady scoring and a valuable postseason preview at Shadow Hills Golf Course. Argyle posts rounds of 333 and 338 for a 36-hole total of 671, good for second place overall behind powerhouse Andrews.
Madelyn Diomede leads the way with one of the best tournaments of her career.
The junior opens with a personal-best 77 in round one, setting the tone for Argyle from the start. Senior Hannah Wood follows with an 80, while Katie Garner cards an 87 and Maddie Wilson adds an 89. Freshman Lauren Justice rounds out the scoring with a 93 as the Lady Eagles post a team total of 333 and put themselves firmly in contention.
The second round brings another strong team effort.
Diomede again leads Argyle with an 85, while Garner improves to an 82 in the final round. Wilson also delivers a personal-best tournament round with an 85, continuing the Lady Eagles’ theme of growth throughout the event. Wood adds an 86, and Justice finishes with a 92 as Argyle records a second-round 338 and secures second place in the team standings.
The finish gives the Lady Eagles more than just a strong result. It gives them experience on the hardpan fairways and firm conditions of West Texas, the kind of test that often defines regional golf later in the season. For a lineup still building toward the postseason, that kind of trip matters.
Argyle leaves Lubbock with a runner-up finish, two personal-best rounds, and a better understanding of the course that will host the Region I Tournament later in the spring.
The Lady Eagles next travel to Southern Oaks on March 20-21 before returning to Lubbock for the regional tournament at Shadow Hills on April 22-23.
