Lady Eagles Climb to Third at Abilene Halloween Classic

The Argyle Lady Eagles close the fall portion of the schedule with another strong finish, climbing the leaderboard to take third place at the Abilene Halloween Classic.

Playing two West Texas courses over two days, the Lady Eagles post rounds of 347 and 331 for a 36-hole total of 678. The second-round push lifts Argyle from fourth after day one into the top three by the end of the tournament and gives the team another strong result heading into the offseason.

The opening round at Diamondback National gives Argyle a solid start.

Katie Garner leads the Lady Eagles with an 84, while Madelyn Diomede follows with an 87. Hannah Wood and Maddie Wilson each add 88s as Argyle posts a team score of 347 and heads into the final round in fourth place. Reese Underwood contributes a 91, and Lauren Justice adds a 94.

Wilson’s round also produces one of the most memorable moments of the season.

On the par-3 11th hole at Diamondback, Wilson records the first hole-in-one of her career, holing a 9-iron from 111 yards and giving the Lady Eagles a highlight that stands out far beyond the final standings.

Day two at Maxwell Municipal brings Argyle’s best team round of the event.

The Lady Eagles fire a 331 to move into third place overall, with Hannah Wood and Madelyn Diomede each shooting 80 to lead the charge. Garner follows with an 82, and Wilson adds an 89 as Argyle improves by 16 shots from round one. Underwood posts a 94, and Justice closes with a 97.

The finish gives the Lady Eagles another encouraging result against strong competition and sends them into the offseason with momentum. After sitting fourth following the first round, Argyle responds with one of its better team performances of the fall and leaves Abilene with a place on the podium.

The Lady Eagles next return to tournament play after Christmas break at the regional and state preview events at Shadow Hills in Lubbock and Plum Creek in Kyle.
