Lady Eagles Finish Third at Eaton Invitational

The Argyle Lady Eagles turn in another strong fall performance at the Eaton Invitational, finishing third overall at The Golf Club at Champions Circle after two days against one of the area’s deepest fields.

Using a day off from school to compete, Argyle steps into a tournament loaded with respected programs, including Aledo, Frisco Liberty, Byron Nelson, Eaton, and Northwest. The Lady Eagles answer with rounds of 339 and 335 for a 36-hole total of 674, good for third place behind two of the strongest teams in the field.

Hannah Wood leads the charge with one of the top individual performances of the tournament.

The senior posts rounds of 75 and 76 to finish sixth overall, giving Argyle a steady presence near the top of the leaderboard from start to finish. Madelyn Diomede follows with an 86 in the opening round before putting together a strong second-day response, highlighted by a run of pars on the back nine, to close with a 78.

Katie Garner adds another steady tournament for the Lady Eagles, improving from an 89 in round one to an 86 in round two. Maddie Wilson matches Garner’s opening-round 89 and follows with a 95 to complete one of her strongest two-day varsity performances. Stella Pace, competing with the varsity lineup for the first time in her career, contributes rounds of 104 and 113.

Lauren Justice also gains valuable experience as an individual medalist, opening with a 106 before making a major jump in the second round with a 92.

The Lady Eagles’ final-round 335 says a lot about the group. Against a high-level field and on a course that rewards consistency and control, Argyle improves on day two and keeps itself among the top teams in the tournament. That kind of response continues to define the fall.

After three consecutive weeks of competition, the Lady Eagles step away from tournament play for a short break before returning Nov. 1-2 at the Abilene ISD Halloween Classic, played at Diamondback and Maxwell Golf Courses in Abilene.
