Lady Eagles Battle Weather, Finish Runner-Up at Eaton Invitational
October 23-24, 2020
The Golf Club at The Resort – Eagle Mountain Lake, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles fight through difficult weather and deliver a strong finish at the Eaton Invitational, earning runner-up honors over two days at The Golf Club at The Resort.

A cold front sweeps through North Texas early Friday, bringing rain, lightning, and a two-hour delay before the tournament can begin. When play finally starts, the conditions remain demanding, but the Lady Eagles settle in and post an opening-round score of 362 to keep themselves firmly in contention.

Katie Garner leads the way for Argyle with an 86 in the first round. Lauren Justice follows with a 90, while Maddie Wilson cards a 91. Freshman Madi Hance adds a 95, and Madelyn Diomede finishes with a 98 as the Lady Eagles grind through a weather-affected opening day.

Round two brings a different challenge.

The rain and heavy wind give way to drier conditions, but temperatures drop into the 40s for the coldest start of the season. Paired with Denton Guyer and Northwest, Argyle responds with a better team round and climbs into second place.

Garner again leads the Lady Eagles, posting an 83 to secure third place individually with a 36-hole total of 169. Diomede delivers one of the strongest turnarounds of the tournament, bouncing back from a 98 to shoot an 85 and help push Argyle forward. Hance and Wilson each add 91s, and Justice rounds out the team scoring with a 96 as the Lady Eagles finish with a second-round 350.

The final 36-hole total of 712 gives Argyle second place overall and underscores the group’s ability to compete through changing conditions.

For the Lady Eagles, the weekend becomes another example of resilience. After weather delays, wet conditions, and a cold second-round start, Argyle stays composed, improves its team score, and leaves with a runner-up finish against a strong field.
