Lady Eagles Open 2020-21 Season with Record-Setting Finish at Glen Rose
September 25-26, 2020
Squaw Valley Golf Course – Glen Rose, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles open the 2020-21 season with a strong showing at the Glen Rose Invitational, turning in a record-setting final round at Squaw Valley Golf Course and building early momentum for the fall.
Competing in a modified Maxwell format with the team paired together, the Lady Eagles begin the season with a solid opening round of 337 before erupting for a school-record 318 on day two. The 36-hole total of 655 gives Argyle an impressive start and signals the kind of depth the program brings into the new year.
Katie Garner leads the scoring for the Lady Eagles over the two-day event, posting rounds of 79 and 78 for a 157 total. Madelyn Diomede follows closely with an 82 in the opening round and a strong 77 on day two to finish at 159. Lauren Justice adds steady scores of 83 and 82 for a 165, while freshman Madi Hance makes a strong first impression in her first high school tournament, improving from a 94 to an 81. Maddie Wilson also shows a major jump from round one to round two, following a 93 with an 83 to finish at 176.
Izzy Wolfe also competes as a medalist and adds an 86.
The second round becomes the headline.
Argyle breaks the previous 18-hole school record of 325 by posting a 318, a breakthrough performance that highlights both the lineup’s potential and its ability to improve quickly early in the season. Diomede’s 77 leads the way in the final round, with Garner close behind at 78. Hance, Justice, and Wilson add scores of 81, 82, and 83 as the Lady Eagles put together one of the best team rounds in program history at that point.
For Argyle, the opening tournament delivers more than a promising result. It provides a record-setting round, a strong team score over 36 holes, and the kind of confidence that can shape the rest of the season.
The Lady Eagles next return to action Oct. 9-10 at the NTHSGCA Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament.
