Lady Eagles Finish Top Five at Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament
October 9-10, 2020
Lake Park Golf Course – Lewisville, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles continue their fall schedule with a strong showing at the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament, finishing fifth overall against a field filled with talented 5A and 6A programs at Lake Park Golf Course.

Known throughout North Texas golf circles as the “Fast Freddy,” the tournament honors longtime Lewisville High School coach Fred Willis and helps support the NTHSGCA scholarship fund, which awards annual scholarships to one boys and one girls golfer in his memory. In a field loaded with area competition, Argyle turns in a solid two-day performance and leaves with another valuable varsity result.

The Lady Eagles post rounds of 332 and 338 for a 36-hole total of 670, good for fifth place overall.

The event presents an added challenge as the girls compete from the men’s tees at approximately 5,900 yards, making Lake Park a longer and more demanding test. Argyle responds with steady play throughout the lineup.

Katie Garner leads the Lady Eagles once again, carding rounds of 78 and 81 for a 159 total. Madelyn Diomede follows with a consistent 84-83—167, while freshman Madi Hance adds rounds of 83 and 86 to finish at 169. Maddie Wilson contributes scores of 87 and 93, and Izzy Wolfe shows one of the stronger day-two improvements in the lineup, bouncing back from a 101 to shoot 88 in the final round.

Corin Sullivan also competes as a varsity medalist and gains valuable experience, posting rounds of 105 and 95 over the two days.

For Argyle, the weekend offers another strong test against quality competition and another opportunity to grow through tournament play. Finishing inside the top five in a field of larger-school programs continues to show the competitiveness of the Lady Eagles lineup and the depth developing throughout the roster.

Argyle next returns to action at Eaton High School’s Invitational at The Golf Club at The Resort.
