Lady Eagles Open 2021-22 Season with Record Round at Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament
October 1-2, 2021
Lake Park Golf Course – Lewisville, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles open the 2021-22 season with a record-setting performance at the NTHSGCA Fred Willis Memorial Scholarship Tournament, delivering one of the strongest starts in program history at Lake Park Golf Course.

Hosted annually by the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association, the event carries special meaning on a course long associated with Coach Willis and his Lewisville teams. Argyle makes the most of the opportunity, sending both its Black and Red teams into the field and immediately making its presence felt.

The headline comes early.

Argyle Black fires an opening-round 300, setting a new school record and putting the Lady Eagles in position to contend against one of the strongest fields of the fall. Junior Madison Wert leads the way with a 73, while seniors Claire Jensen and Katie Garner follow closely with rounds of 74 and 75. Freshman Ryan Purczynski adds a 78 to complete the record-breaking team score, and Maddie Wilson posts an 82 to round out the lineup.

Argyle Red also opens the season with a solid showing. Junior Lauren Justice shoots an 83, while freshmen Ari Davies and Ana Edwards add rounds of 89 and 92. Sophomore Allison Giese cards a 91 as the Red team finishes 11th overall.

Day two brings another strong test, and the Lady Eagles respond again.

Paired with Keller and Denton Guyer in the final round, Argyle Black posts a 313 to finish with a 36-hole total of 613 and claim third place overall. Garner delivers another steady round with a 75, while Wert and Jensen each shoot 77. Purczynski adds an 84, and Wilson closes with an 87 as the Lady Eagles secure a podium finish.

Argyle Red continues to compete well in the second round behind another 83 from Justice. Edwards follows with a 92, Davies shoots a 94, and Giese adds a 98 as the Red team completes its tournament.

For Argyle, the season-opening event offers more than a strong result. It delivers a school-record round, a third-place finish for the Black team, and another reminder of the depth running throughout the program at the start of the year.

The Lady Eagles next return home to host the Argyle Invitational at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch on Oct. 15-16.
