The Lady Eagles competed at the Southlake Carroll Invite on Thursday, making this their last tune up before the District 6-5A Championships. They placed 3rd overall, scoring a total of 119 points.
The day began with the field events, where senior Ella Stanzel placed 2nd with a jump of 5-2. Also competing was junior Allie King, who jumped 4-10 for 4th.
Sophomore Evangeline Edmonson took 1st overall in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11-0. Bringing home the gold in discus was sophomore Vanessa DeBanks, who placed 1st overall with a throw of 134-04. Also competing was freshman Dianna DeBanks, who threw 90-04 for 6th.
Competing in the shot put were junior Emma King, sophomores Vanessa DeBanks and Joey Fowler, and freshman Grace Munster. King placed 2nd with a throw of 35-00, while DeBanks threw 31-10 for 4th. Fowler placed 8th with a throw of 27-06, and Munster threw 25-07 for 10th.
The running events began with the 4X100m relay, where the Lady Eagles placed 3rd. The team consisting of freshman Reagan McCullough, juniors Mallory Kuykendall and Julia Allen, and freshman Ava Atkins finished the race in a time of 51.18.
In the 800m run, senior Sydney Lessley placed 4th with a time of 2:25.03. Following closely behind was junior Sadie Cotter, who ran a new PR of 2:28.78 for 5th. Also competing were senior Emerson Payne and freshman Everlee Muckensturm. Payne finished 10th with a time of 2:32.40 and Muckensturm ran 2:32.53 for 11th.
Senior Ella Stanzel placed 3rd in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.58. Also competing were sophomores Berkley Burns and Kate Gailey. Burns finished 4th with a time of 16.64, while Gailey ran 19.15 for 8th.
Competing in the 100m dash was freshman Ava Atkins, who placed 5th with a time of 12.60. Next were freshman Reagan McCullough and sophomore Kallie Vest, who placed 9th and 10th, running a close race of 13.163 and 13.166 respectively.
In the 4X200m relay, the Lady Eagles placed 2nd with a time of 1:50.56. The team consisted of junior Mallory Kuykendall, sophomore Kacheral Meador, junior Julia Allen, and freshman Ava Atkins.
Leading the Lady Eagles in the 400m run was junior Natalia Crnecki, who ran 1:06.38 for 4th. Next was junior Sadie Cotter, who ran 1:06.70 for 6th. Also competing was freshman Reagan Starkey, who placed 7th with a time of 1:08.16.
In the 300m hurdles, junior Berkley Burns placed 3rd with a time of 48.39. She was followed by junior Kate Brooks, who ran 48.49 for 4th.
Junior Mallory Kuykendall placed 6th overall in the open 200m, finishing in a time of 26.87. Also competing were freshman Reagan McCullough and sophomore Kallie Vest, who placed 8th and 9th, running times of 27.41 and 27.46 respectively.
In the 1600m, senior Sydney Lessley led the way with an 8th place finish. She ran a time of 5:32.47. Also competing was senior Emerson Payne, who ran 5:41.29 for 10th.
The night concluded with the 4X400m relay, in which junior Kate Brooks, sophomores Kacheral Meador and Berkley Patton, and junior Berkley Burns placed 3rd with a time of 4:22.49.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete at the District 6-5A Championships on Monday and Tuesday (April 6th and 7th). This meet will determine the qualifiers for the Area Meet, which will be on Friday, April 17th.
