The postseason demanded a complete performance, and Argyle delivered one.

At the 2024 Region 1-5A Girls Championship at LakeRidge Country Club in Lubbock, the Lady Eagles turned in a runner-up finish against one of the strongest regional fields in Texas, carding rounds of 309 and 330 for a 36-hole team total of 639. The result sent Argyle through to the UIL 5A State Tournament and reinforced the depth that made the Lady Eagles one of the region’s most dangerous teams all spring.

Amarillo High Black claimed the regional title at 609, but Argyle separated itself from the rest of the chase early and held firm over the final round. Colleyville Heritage finished third at 649, followed by Aledo at 677 and Lubbock Cooper at 688. In a championship setting where every shot is magnified, Argyle’s ability to put four solid scores together across two days proved decisive.

The individual leaderboard reflected the level of the competition. Joshua’s Kaylee Yuan earned medalist honors at 147, while Amarillo teammates Addison Britten and Charlee Thacker shared second at 148. Argyle, meanwhile, placed multiple players near the top of the board and got the balanced lineup effort required to move on.

Ryan Purczynski led the Lady Eagles with a 36-hole total of 155, good for eighth place after rounds of 76 and 79. Kate Rendon added a top-10 finish at 157, following an opening 76 with an 81 in the final round. Colbie Moses tied for 13th at 162 on rounds of 78 and 84, while Alex Mara finished 17th at 166. Ana Edwards rounded out the Argyle scoring effort with a 174, tying for 28th after improving from 88 to 86 on day two.

That is the kind of lineup balance that wins in April.

Argyle did not need one player to carry the event on their own. Instead, the Lady Eagles advanced the way strong postseason teams usually do — with steady scoring, multiple high finishes, and enough composure to hold position when the pressure tightened. That formula gave Argyle a 10-shot cushion over third-place Colleyville Heritage and turned a strong regional performance into a state-qualifying one.

LakeRidge has long been a course that tests patience as much as talent, and the 2024 regional once again demanded both. Argyle answered with one of its best team performances of the season, handling the moment well enough to keep its year alive and earn a place on the state stage.

For the Lady Eagles, the mission in Lubbock was clear: survive and advance. They did more than that. They proved they belonged.
