Lady Eagles Punch State Ticket with Runner-Up Finish at Region 1-5A Championship
April 2024
LakeRidge Country Club – Lubbock, Texas

The postseason demands a complete performance, and Argyle delivers one.

At the 2024 Region 1-5A Girls Championship at LakeRidge Country Club in Lubbock, the Lady Eagles turn in a runner-up finish against one of the strongest regional fields in Texas, carding rounds of 309 and 330 for a 36-hole team total of 639. The result sends Argyle to the UIL 5A State Tournament and reinforces the depth that makes the Lady Eagles one of the region’s most dangerous teams all spring.

Amarillo High Black claims the regional title at 609, but Argyle separates itself from the rest of the chase early and holds firm through the final round. Colleyville Heritage finishes third at 649, followed by Aledo at 677 and Lubbock Cooper at 688. In a championship setting where every shot is magnified, Argyle’s ability to stack four solid scores across two days proves decisive.

The individual leaderboard reflects the level of the competition. Joshua’s Kaylee Yuan earns medalist honors at 147, while Amarillo teammates Addison Britten and Charlee Thacker share second at 148. Argyle, meanwhile, places multiple players near the top of the board and gets the balanced lineup effort required to move on.

Ryan Purczynski leads the Lady Eagles with a 36-hole total of 155, good for eighth place after rounds of 76 and 79. Kate Rendon adds a top-10 finish at 157, following an opening 76 with an 81 in the final round. Colbie Moses ties for 13th at 162 on rounds of 78 and 84, while Alex Mara finishes 17th at 166. Ana Edwards rounds out the Argyle scoring effort with a 174, tying for 28th after improving from 88 to 86 on day two.

That is the kind of lineup balance that sends teams to state.

Argyle does not need one player to carry the event alone. Instead, the Lady Eagles advance the way strong postseason teams usually do — with steady scoring, multiple high finishes, and enough composure to hold position when the pressure tightens. That formula gives Argyle a 10-shot cushion over third-place Colleyville Heritage and turns a strong regional performance into a state-qualifying one.

LakeRidge has long been a course that tests patience as much as talent, and the 2024 regional once again demands both. Argyle answers with one of its best team performances of the season, handling the moment well enough to keep its year alive and earn a place on the state stage.

For the Lady Eagles, the mission in Lubbock is clear: survive and advance. They do more than that. They prove they belong.
