It was a great day for the JV Lady Eagles on Thursday. They took 2nd place at the Dave Park Relays, in a field full of 6A schools. They put up 118 points against some of the strongest competitors.
The day began with the field events, in which freshman Reagan McCullough took 1st place in the high jump, clearing a height of 4-10. Also competing were freshmen Grace Munster and Halima Jiya, who placed 6th and 12th, clearing 4-8 and 4-4 respectively. In the pole vault, freshman Isabella McCarty jumped 8-6 for 2nd, putting up 7 points for the Lady Eagles.
In the long jump, freshman Janaya Harrison placed 9th, jumping 13-5. Also competing was freshman Hailey Tucker, who jumped 12-5.25 for 13th place. Competing in the triple jump, freshman McKenzie Rippen placed 4th, jumping 32-4.50 and putting up points for the Lady Eagles. Also competing was sophomore Taylor Thomas, who jumped 31-4.50 for 6th.
Also occurring that morning were the throwing events. In the shot put, freshman Sophie Beaulieu placed 10th with a throw of 25-7. Also competing were sophomore Alekha Marottickel Jolly and freshman Jessica Pilli. Jolly placed 15th with a throw of 22-5, and Pilli threw 22-3 for 16th.
In discus, freshman Dianna DeBanks threw 90-7 feet for 2nd place, scoring 8 points for the Lady Eagles. Also competing were senior Paige Withrow and freshman Krystalia Singh, who placed 17th and 18th with 46-7 and 41-10 respectively.
The running events began with the 3200m run. Junior Karson Riewerts scored points for the Lady Eagles, finishing 6th with a time of 14:07.02. Also competing was freshman Grace DeFilippo, who placed 11th with a time of 15:43.01.
The 4X100m relay consisted of sophomores Kallie Vest, Berkeley Patton, Bella Moes, and freshman Reagan McCullough. They placed 4th overall, finishing in a time of 52.04. This was followed by the 800m run, in which junior Ava Rogers set a new PR. She finished 6th, running a time of 2:41.88. She was followed by freshman McKenzie Rippen, who placed 11th with a time of 2:46.10. Also competing was senior Lola Ola, who ran a new PR of 2:51.89 for 15th.
Competing in the 100m hurdles were sophomore Kate Gailey and freshman Halima Jiya, who took 1st and 2nd overall, scoring 18 points for the Lady Eagles. Gailey ran a new PR of 17.44, and Jiya finished the race in 17.71.
This was followed by the 100m dash, in which sophomore Taylor Thomas ran a new PR of 12.76 to take 2nd place. Also setting a new PR was sophomore Hannah Childs, who placed 13th with a time of 13.67.
Next was the 4X200m relay. The team, consisting of sophomores Kallie Vest, Berkley Patton, Bella Moes, and freshman Reagan McCullough placed 2nd overall, running a time of 1:50.33.
Freshman Reagan Starkey and junior Natalia Crnecki placed 4th and 5th in the 400m run. Starkey set a new PR of 1:05.35, with Crnecki finishing right behind in a time of 1:05.55. Also competing was junior Morgan Doremus, who placed 18th with a time of 1:12.62.
Taking home the gold in the 300m hurdles was freshman Halima Jiya, who set a new PR of 51.96. Also competing were sophomores Makenzie Murphy and Kate Gailey, who placed 4th and 8th. Murphy set a new PR of 53.66, while Gailey finished in a time of 54.70.
In the 200m dash, sophomore Taylor Thomas set a new PR of 27.35 for 3rd. Also competing were freshmen Reagan McCullough and sophomore Hannah Childs, both of which set new personal bests. McCullough ran 28.49 for 6th, and Childs ran 29.24 for 14th.
Taking 6th in the 1600m run was junior Ava Rogers, who ran a new PR of 6:04.86 for 6th. Also competing were junior Karson Riewerts and freshman Grace DeFilippo. Riewerts ran 6:21.62 for 12th, and DeFilippo ran 6:46.09 for 21st.
The last event of the night was the 4X400m relay, in which junior Natalia Crnecki, freshman Reagan Starkey, and sophomores Bella Moes and Berkley Patton placed 4th, running a time of 4:26.52.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete at the Southlake Carroll Invite on Thursday, April 2nd.
