It was a great day for the Lady Eagles, who earned 148 points for 2nd place at the Aledo Bearcat Relays.
The day began with the field events, in which sophomore Presli Prater and senior Ella Stanzel competed in the high jump. Prater placed 2nd in a tie, jumping her PR of 5-0. Stanzel also jumped 5-0 for 4th. Also competing was freshman Grace Munster, who jumped 4-8 for 9th.
Competing in the long jump was sophomore Chelsea Nwaiwu, who jumped 14-7.75 for 11th. Scoring points in the pole vault were junior Dylan Wyrick and sophomores Evangeline Edmondson. Wyrick placed 1st overall with a jump of 12-0, while Edmondson jumped a new PR of 11-0 for 4th.
In the shot put, sophomore Joey Fowler threw 29-10 to place 5th, putting points on the board for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Vanessa DeBanks placed 7th with a throw of 29-8, and freshman Grace Munster threw 24-1 for 16th.
In the discus, sophomore Vanessa DeBanks threw a new school record of 127-3 for 2nd place, besting her own previous PR.
The running events began with the 3200m run, where sophomore Madison Chapman placed 5th, finishing in a time of 12:07.95. Next was freshman Everlee Muckensturm, who ran a new PR of 12:35.28 for 9th. Also setting a personal best was freshman Addisyn McNatt, who ran 13:22.94 for 13th.
The 4X100m relay set a new school record, finishing in 1st place with a time of 48.21. The team consisted of freshman Adyson Padron, junior Kaia Tritthardt, senior Blair Mosley, and sophomores Chelsea Nwaiwu.
This was followed by the 800m run, in which senior Sydney Lessley set a new PR of 2:24.70 to place 6th.
Taking home the gold in the 100m hurdles was sophomore Presli Prater. She ran a new PR of 15.59 for 1st, almost a full second ahead of the next runner. Also putting points on the board was junior Kate Brooks, who placed 6th with a time of 17.76.
Competing in the 100m dash were sophomore Chelsey Nwaiwu, freshman Adyson Padron, and junior Mallory Kuykendall. Nwaiwu finished 1st in a time of 12.56. Following closely behind was Padron, who ran 12.76 for 2nd. In 4th was Kuykendall, who finished in a time of 13.10.
Next was the 4X200m relay, in which freshman Ava Atkins, junior Kaia Tritthardt, sophomore Deana Somers, and junior Eva Robinson placed 1st, finishing in a time of 1:45.81.
Putting points on the board in the 300m hurdles were junior Kate Brooks and sophomore Presli Prater. Brooks ran 48.32 for 2nd place, while Prater finished 5th with a new PR of 49.49.
Taking the top 3 spots in the 200m dash were sophomore Chelsea Nwaiwu, freshman Adyson Padron, and junior Mallory Kuykendall. Nwaiwu finished 1st in a time of 25.71. She was followed by Padron, who ran a new PR of 26.20 for 2nd. In 3rd place was Kuykendall, who finished in a time of 27.22.
Setting a new PR in the 1600m was senior Sydney Lessley. She ran 5:29.73 for an 8th place finish. Next was sophomore Madison Chapman, who ran 5:39.44 for 10th. Also competing was freshman Everlee Muckensturm, who placed 12th with a time of 5:47.91.
The night concluded with the 4X400m, in which the team of juniors Kaia Tritthardt, Kate Brooks, Eva Robinson, and senior Blair Mosley finished 2nd, running a time of 4:10.68.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete at the Aubrey Chaparral Relays on Thursday, March 19th.
