The Lady Eagles were neck in neck for the entire meet on Thursday with Midlothian Heritage, but came out on top with a well-earned 1st place finish at the Fossil Ridge Relays.
The morning began with the field events, with sophomore Vanessa DeBanks claiming the victory in discus. She took 1st place with a new PR of 126-1, setting a new school record. In the shotput, the Lady Eagles took 7th, 8th, and 13th overall. Sophomore Vanessa DeBanks placed 7th with a throw of 30-1. She was followed by sophomore Joey Fowler, who threw 29-11 for 8th. Also competing was freshman Grace Munster, who placed 13th with a throw of 25-8.
Freshman McKenzie Rippen represented the Lady Eagles in the triple jump, where she took 2nd place with a jump of 31-1.50. In the long jump, freshman Annaka Ross took 1st place with a jump of 16-1.25. Also competing was sophomore Berkley Burns, who jumped 14-10.50 for 4th.
Junior Dylan Wyrick and sophomore Evangeline Edmondson placed 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault, where Wyrick jumped 12-0 and Edmundson jumped 10-6. The Lady Eagles experienced similar success in the high jump, in which senior Ella Stanzel and sophomore Presli Prater jumped 5-2 and 5-0, placing 2nd and 4th respectively.
The running events began with the 3200m run, in which sophomore Madison Chapman, and freshmen Everlee Muckensturm and Addisyn McNatt placed 2nd, 5th, and 7th. Chapman ran 12:32.37, Muckensturm ran 12:56.67, and McNatt finished in a new PR of 13:40.
Next was the 4X100m relay, in which Argyle placed 2nd in a time of 49.26. This was followed by the 800m dash. The Lady Eagles put 16 points on the board in this event, with their 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place finishes. Senior Sydney Lessley finished 2nd, running a new PR of 2:27.75. She was followed closely by senior Emerson Payne, who finished 3rd with a new personal best of 2:28.74. Also competing was junior Sadie Cotter, who ran 2:34.98 for 5th.
The Lady Eagles also had a great showing in the 100m hurdles, taking 1st and 3rd. Sophomore Presli Prater was 1st, finishing in a time of 16.23. She was followed by junior Berkley Burns, who placed 3rd with a time of 17.20. In the 100m dash, freshmen Adyson Padron and Annaka Ross had a close finish. Padron placed 2nd with a time of 12.564, while Ross ran 12.570 for 3rd. Also competing was junior Kaia Tritthardt, who placed 4th with a time of 12.79.
Next was the 4X200m relay, in which the Lady Eagles took 2nd place overall, with a time of 1:44.09. The team consisted of freshman Ava Atkins, sophomores Julia Allen and Deana Somers, and junior Eva Robinson.
Competing in the open 400m run was senior Sydney Lessley, who ran a new PR of 1:04.95 for 5th. Also competing was junior Sadie Cotter, who placed 9th with a time of 1:07.56.
Next was the 300m hurdles, in which the Lady Eagles took 2nd, 3rd, and 6th, for a total of 15 points. Junior Berkley Burns ran 48.51 for 2nd. Following closely behind was junior Kate Brooks, who placed 3rd with a time of 48.79. Also competing was sophomore Presli Prater, who ran 50.48 for 6th place.
In the open 200m run, junior Eva Robinson took home the gold, finishing in a time of 25.73. Next was freshman Ava Atkins, who ran 27.04 for 6th. Also competing was junior Julia Allen, who placed 8th with a time of 27.21.
The 1600m race concluded with an exciting finish, as sophomore Madison Chapman came back in the last 100m to claim the victory. She finished in a time of 5:31.01. She was followed by senior Emerson Payne, who placed 3rd, running a new PR of 5:35.59. Also competing was freshman Everlee Muckensturm, who ran a new PR of 5:44.12 for 5th.
The night concluded with the 4X400m, which placed 2nd overall, finish in a time of 4:12.01. The team consisted of juniors Kaia Tritthardt, Kate Brooks, freshman Annaka Ross, and sophomore Deana Somers.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete at the Lewisville Goldsmith Relays on Saturday, March 7th.
