The JV Lady Eagles ended up placing 2nd at the Keller Fossil Ridge Relays after a day of tough competition.
The morning began with the field events, in which Dianna DeBanks took 4th place with a new PR of 78-3. Competing in the shot put were freshman Sophie Beaulieu, sophomore Alekha Marottickel Jolly, and freshman Jessica Pilli. Beaulieu placed 6th with a throw of 26-8, Jolly placed 14th with 23-3, and Pilli threw 22-4.50 for 16th.
In the triple jump, freshman McKenzie Rippen took 2nd place with a throw of 31-1.50. The Lady Eagles also took home 2nd and 7th in the long jump. Freshman Janaya Harrison and Hailey Tucker jumped 15-2 and 13-8.25 respectively, to place 2nd and 7th.
In the vertical jumps, freshman Isabella McCarty took 4th with a jump of 6-0 for pole vault. Freshmen Halima Jiya and Reagan McCullough competed in the high jump. Jiya placed 1st overall with a jump of 4-6, while McCullough took 5th, also with a jump of 4-6.
The running events began with the 3200m, in which freshman Grace DeFilippo took home the gold with a new PR of 14:12.31. This was followed by the women’s 4X100m relay, which placed 2nd with a time of 52.84. The team consisted of sophomores Kallie Vest, Berkley Patton, Bella Moes, and Katie Killoren.
This was followed by the 800m dash, in which juniors Ava Rogers, Morgan Doremus, and Reese Hennigan competed. Rogers ran a new PR of 2:44.61 for 3rd, Doremus finished 8th with a time of 2:56.67, and Hennigan ran 3:04.27 for 11th.
Competing for the Lady Eagles in the 100m hurdles was freshman Halima Jiya, who took home 1st place with a time of 16.80. Freshman Reagan McCullough and sophomore Hannah Childs represented in the 100m dash. McCullough finished 5th in a time of 13.67 and Childs ran 13.94 for 11th.
In the 4X200m relay, the team of sophomores Katie Killoren, Berkley Patton, Bella Moes, and Kallie Vest placed 3rd with a time of 1:52.78. Competing in the open 400m were freshman Reagan Starkey and junior Natalia Crnecki. They finished 1st and 2nd, racking up 18 points for the Lady Eagles, and finishing in times of 1:05.35 and 1:05.84 respectively.
Competing in the 300m hurdles were freshman Halima Jiya and sophomore Kate Gailey. Jiya placed 4th with a time of 53.11, while Gailey ran 54.12 for 6th. In the open 200m, freshman Reagan McCullough placed 6th with a time of 29.05. Also competing was sophomore Hannah Childs. She finished 12th in a time of 29.70.
The Lady Eagles took 3rd, 7th, and 14th in the 1600m run. Junior Ava Rogers ran 6:19.53 for 3rd. She was followed by junior Morgan Doremus, who ran 6:43.96 for 7th. Also competing was junior Reese Hennigan, who placed 14th with a time of 7:23.87.
The night concluded with an incredibly close finish, in which the Lady Eagles 4X400m relay took first. The team of sophomore Natalia Crnecki, freshman Reagan Starkey, and sophomores Bella Moes and Berkley Patton finished in a time of 4:25.91 to beat out the 2nd place team by less than a second.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete at the Lewisville Goldsmith Relays on Saturday, March 7th.
