No. 5 Argyle 41, Arlington Seguin 24
The Eagles rallied from an early deficit behind big second and third quarters to stay unbeaten in district play with Thursday's win over Arlington Seguin.
Argyle (5-1, 4-0 in district), ranked No. 5 statewide in 5A Division II, trailed 6-0 through one quarter after Seguin (5-2, 3-2) opened with a nearly eight-minute touchdown drive and the Eagles turned it over on their lone drive of the period.
Argyle scored a touchdown to take its first lead with 9:01 left in the second quarter and never trailed again. The Eagles scored 21 unanswered points before a Seguin field goal on the half's final play, then put up three more scores to lead 41-9 early in the fourth quarter before the Cougars scored two late touchdowns to tighten the final margin.
Nathaniel Bruce had 13 carries for 163 yards and one touchdown to pace Argyle offensively. Obadiah Goble had six carries for 68 yards and one score, while UTSA pledge Maguire Gasperson went 8 of 14 for 97 yards, two touchdowns and an interception alongside two rushing TDs.
Julian Caldwell caught three passes for 62 yards and one score as TCU commit Braden Bach had the other TD grab from two yards out for his lone catch.
