The Lady Eagles Track and Field Team took 2nd place at the District 6-5A Track and Field Championships on Thursday. Many Lady Eagles stepped it up, running faster than ever before to secure points in their events.
The finals began with the 4X100m relay, in which senior Estelle Davis, freshman Chelsea Nwaiwu, sophomore Saige Soell, and senior Blair Mosley placed 2nd with a time of 49.24.
Senior Sophie Deneault led the team with her 6th-place finish in the 800m run. Deneault finished the race in a time of 2:31.18. She was followed by junior Sydney Lessley, who ran 2:33.82 for 9th. Also competing was sophomore Sadie Cotter, who placed 12th with a time of 2:36.77.
In the 100m hurdles, freshman Presli Prater ran a new PR of 16.40 to take 2nd place overall. Also competing was senior Zoey Tait, who put points on the board with her 6th-place finish. She completed the race in a new personal best of 16.86.
The 4X200m relay team, consisting of sophomores Eva Robinson, Saige Soell, freshman Kacheral Meador, and sophomore Kaia Tritthardt, placed 2nd overall with a time of 1:45.19.
Junior Blair Mosley also qualified for the finals in the 400m dash, where she ran a new PR of 1:03.30 for 2nd place. In the 300m hurdles, the Lady Eagles competed sophomore Kate Brooks. She finished the race in a new personal best of 48.01, securing a 3rd place spot on the podium.
Freshman Chelsea Nwaiwu and sophomore Eva Robinson represented the Lady Eagles in the finals for the 200m dash. Nwaiwu ran 25.68 for 2nd place, after breaking the school record the previous day. Robinson also competed, placing 7th with a time of 26.46.
Freshman Madison Chapman was the District 6-5A champion in the 1600m run. She took nearly 10 seconds off her best time, running 5:24.69 for 1st place, and winning by a margin of 2 seconds. Junior Sydney Lessley put points on the board with her 5th place finish, tying her previous PR at 5:42.76. Also competing was senior Sophie Deneault, who ran 5:54.94 for 10th.
The night concluded with the 4X400m relay. The team of sophomore Kaia Tritthardt, senior Zoe Jackson, freshman Kacheral Meador, and junior Blair Mosley finished the race in 4:07.86 to become the District 6-5A Champions.
