It was a warm and windy day at the Southlake Carroll Dragon Relays, where they placed 4th overall.
A few of the field events took place in the morning, including pole vault and the throwing events. In the pole vault, sophomore Dylan Wyrick jumped a new PR of 11-6 to take the gold medal. In discus, freshman Vanessa DeBanks threw 99-10 for 5th place. Sophomore Emma King also placed 5th in shot put, with a throw of 35-0.
In the 4X100m relay, freshmen Sailor Farda, Deana Somers, Julia Allen, and junior Alexa Garcia placed 5th overall. They finished the race in a time of 51.96.
Leading the way for the Lady Eagles in the 800m run, senior Sophie Deneault ran a new PR of 2:30.38 for 7th place. Junior Sydney Lessley also made her debut in the 800m, running 2:32.87 for 11th. Also competing were sophomore Sadie Cotter and junior Emerson Payne, who placed 13th and 14th. They ran times of 2:36.10 and 2:36.48 respectively.
The 800m run was followed by the 100m hurdles, in which the Lady Eagles competed senior Zoey Tait, and freshmen Presli Prater and Sailor Farda. Tait placed 4th with a time of 17.09. She was followed closely by Prater, who ran 17.15 for 5th. Additionally, Farda placed 8th with a time of 18.23.
In the 100m dash, sophomore Kaia Tritthardt ran a new PR of 12.62 to place 6th. Also competing were freshmen Julia Allen, Kallie Vest, and junior Londan Jordan. Allen ran 13.27 to place 14th, while Vest ran 13.55 for 16th. Jordan, who placed 19th, ran a time of 13.81.
Next was the 4X200m relay, which placed 3rd with a time of 1:50.54. The team consisted of junior Alexa Garcia, sophomore Kensley Vest, and freshmen Deana Somers and Julia Allen.
In the open 400m, sophomore Kaia Tritthardt led the team, running 1:02.65 for 12th. Also competing was freshman Burkley Patton, who ran 1:07.31 for 17th.
Freshman Presli Prater, sophomore Kate Brooks, senior Zoey Tait, and freshman Sailor Farda competed in the 300m hurdles. Prater led the way, placing 3rd with a time of 50.05. Following closely behind was Brooks, who ran 50.04 for 4th. Tait placed 9th with 53.24 and Farda ran a new PR 56.38 for 14th.
In the 200m dash, sophomore Kaia Tritthardt ran a new personal best time of 26.48 to place 6th. Also competing were junior Alexa Garcia and sophomore Landry Murphy. Garcia placed 14th with 27.62, and Murphy set a new PR of 29.11 for 17th.
Following this was the 1600m run. Junior Sydney Lessley and senior Sophie Deneault took 13th and 14th, running times of 5:51.11 and 5:52.26 respectively. This was a new PR for Deneault. Also competing were junior Emerson Payne and sophomore Sadie Cotter, who took 16th and 17th. They finished the race in 6:02.57 and 6:08.16 respectively.
The final running event of the day was the 4X400m relay. The Lady Eagles competed sophomores Kate Brooks, Landry Murphy, Kensley Vest, and freshman Deana Somers. They placed 4th overall, running a time of 4:22.52.
The afternoon concluded with the jumping events, where juniors Ella Stanzel, and Teagan Tarrant, and sophomore Allie King placed 2nd, 5th, and 10th in the high jump. Stanzel jumped 5-0 and Tarrant and King cleared a height of 4-8.
In the long jump, sophomore Burkley Burns jumped 15-4.50 for 6th, putting points on the board for the Lady Eagles, and setting a new personal best. Senior Zoey Tait also placed 8th with a jump of 15-3, and sophomore Kate Gailey placed 11th with a new PR of 14-4.50.
Freshman Kallie Vest led the way for the Lady Eagles in the triple jump. She jumped 31-3.50 to place 6th. Also competing were freshmen Kate Gailey and Sailor Farda, who jumped 30-3.50 and 29-4.50 to place 8th and 9th. This was a new personal best for Gailey.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete at the District 6-5A Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, April 2nd & 3rd.
