The Lady Eagles Track and Field team competed at the Aledo Bearcat Relays on Thursday night, placing 3rd with 115 points.
The meet began with the field events where freshman Vanessa DeBanks took 3rd place with her 100-8ft throw in the discus. Also scoring points for the Lady Eagles was junior Ella Stanzel, who placed 1st in the high jump. Stanzel cleared 5-2, narrowly beating out some quality competition. Also competing were senior Madeline Zindel and junior Teagan Tarrant. Zindel cleared 5-0 to place 4th, while Tarrant cleared 4-10 to take 8th.
Competing in the long jump were senior Zoey Tait, sophomore Kate Brooks, and freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu. They placed 7th, 10th, and 12th, jumping 15-1, 14-1.75, and 14-1 respectively. Senior Peyton Berry swept the competition in the pole vault, taking first place with her 12-3 vault, tying her previous personal best. Also competing was sophomore Dylan Wyrick, who jumped 10-3 for 6th.
Sophomore Emma King had a great day as well. She put up some points with a 3rd place finish in the shot put, throwing 32-5.25ft.
The running events began with the 3200m run, where freshman Madison Chapman placed 4th, setting a new PR of 12:02.60. Also competing was freshman Avery Cain, who placed 11th with a time of 13:41.52.
Next was the 4X100m relay, in which senior Estelle Davis, freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu, sophomore Saige Soell, and junior Blair Mosley ran 49.77 for 3rd.
In the 800m run, freshman Sofia Gomez led the way with her 8th-place finish. She completed the race in a time of 2:32.88. She was followed by senior Sophie Deneault, who placed 8th with a time of 2:33.29. Also competing was junior Emerson Payne, who ran 2:36.35 for 13th.
Competing in the 100m hurdles were freshman Presli Prater, senior Zoey Tait, and sophomore Kate Brooks. Prater ran 16.63 to take 2nd place. Tait also put points on the board, placing 5th with a time of 17.15, while Brooks finished 11th with 17.99.
In the 100m dash, senior Estelle Davis took 3rd place, finishing in a time of 12.75. She was followed by senior Bella Jeffreys and freshman Kach Meador. They ran 13.15 and 13.29 for 7th and 8th. This was a new PR for Meador.
The Lady Eagles brought home a 1st place finish in the 4X200m relay. The team consisting of sophomores Eva Robinson, Saige Soell, freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu, and junior Blair Mosley finished in a time of 1:46.49.
Competing in the 400m run were seniors Zoe Jackson and Bella Jeffreys, who placed 10th and 11th with times of 1:03.64 and 1:03.93. This was a new PR for Jeffreys. In the 300m hurdles, sophomore Kate Brooks put some points on the board for the Lady Eagles. She placed 5th, running a time of 49.31. Next was freshman Presli Prater, who placed 7th with 50.46. This was a new PR for Prater. Also competing was senior Zoey Tait, who ran 53.09 for 11th.
Competing in the open 200m run was sophomore Eva Robinson, who placed 2nd with a new PR of 26.33. In the 1600m run, junior Sydney Lessley put points on the board for the Lady Eagles with her 6th-place finish. She ran a new PR of 5:42.60. Also competing was junior Emerson Payne, who ran a personal best of 5:54.73 to place 11th.
The night concluded with the 4X400m relay, in which freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu, seniors Zoe Jackson and Bella Jeffreys, and junior Blair Mosley ran 4:12.18 for 2nd place.
The Lady Eagles will compete next at the Lewisville Goldsmith Relays on Friday, March 21st.
