Lady Eagles Open Spring at Squaw Valley
February 28-March 1, 2025
Squaw Valley Golf Course – Glen Rose, Texas

The Argyle Lady Eagles open the 2025 spring season with a solid showing at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, taking on a competitive 19-team field and finishing seventh overall in their first varsity event of the spring.

Playing across both the Links and Lakes courses, the Lady Eagles begin each round in cool morning temperatures in the 40s before conditions warm into the 70s, creating a full-day test that demands patience, adjustment, and steady play. Argyle responds with a strong opening tournament and gains valuable early-season experience against one of the better fields it will see this spring.

Colbie Moses leads the way from the start.

Moses opens with a 79 in the first round to keep Argyle in contention, then follows with an 82 on day two to complete one of the team’s top individual performances of the tournament. Ana Edwards adds an 88 in the opening round before bouncing back with an impressive 80 in the second, trimming eight shots and giving the Lady Eagles another strong score near the top of the lineup.

Argyle also sees encouraging improvement throughout the rest of the field.

Ansleigh Mullins follows a first-round 92 with an 83, making one of the biggest jumps of the tournament for the Lady Eagles. Lily Bayer also lowers her score in the final round, improving from 96 to 90, while Sloane McMellian follows a 100 with a 99. Competing as a medalist, Emerson Fischer opens her spring with a 100 and closes with a 91, showing strong resilience in the second round.

For Argyle, the season opener provides exactly what an opening event should provide: competitive reps, meaningful adjustments, and a clearer sense of where the lineup stands heading into the heart of the spring. Several players improve from round one to round two, and the Lady Eagles leave Glen Rose with momentum already beginning to build.

Next, Argyle heads to Lubbock for the 5A Regional Preview on March 6-8, where the Lady Eagles gain another valuable opportunity to prepare for the postseason later this spring.
