Lady Eagles Open Spring Season at Squaw Valley
The Argyle Lady Eagles varsity golf team kicked off their 2025 spring season at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, Texas, competing on both the Links and Lakes courses. The tournament featured a competitive 19-team field, with the Lady Eagles finishing in 7th place overall. Both rounds began with temperatures in the 40s, but as the day progressed, the sun warmed things up into the 70s, providing ideal conditions for golf.
Leading the Lady Eagles on day one, Colbie Moses set the pace with a 79, keeping her team in contention with a steady performance. Ana Edwards followed with an 88, while Ansleigh Mullins recorded a 92. Lily Bayer finished the opening round with a 96, and Slone McMellian posted a 100. Competing as a medalist, Emerson Fischer shot 100 in her first round of the season.
The Lady Eagles made adjustments on day two, with several players improving their scores. Moses remained consistent, carding an 82 to complete a strong individual performance. Edwards bounced back with an impressive 80, cutting eight strokes from her first round. Mullins also made significant strides, shooting an 83 for a nine-shot improvement. Bayer lowered her score as well, finishing with a 90, while McMellian shaved off a stroke with a 99. Fischer closed out her tournament with a 91, showing resilience in her second round.
With the season opener behind them, the Lady Eagles will now turn their focus to the 5A Regional Preview in Lubbock, Texas, where they will compete March 6-8. This event will provide valuable experience as they prepare for postseason play later in the spring.
