Friday night was a great meet for the Lady Eagles. They competed in the Jimmy Sanders Wildcat Invitational, placing 1st among 15 teams, and finishing the night with 149 points; 52 points ahead of the 2nd place team.
The morning began with the field events. In the high jump, junior Ella Stanzel led the team with her 2nd place jump of 5-2. Senior Madeline Zindel and junior Teagan Tarrant also jumped 5-0 for 3rd and 5th.
In the varsity girls pole vault, senior Peyton Berry and sophomore Dylan Wyrick swept the board for points. Berry and Wyrick both jumped 11-0 for 1st and 2nd. In the long jump, senior Emily Harbach set a new PR of 16-7 to place 5th, also putting points on the board for the team.
The running events started with the varsity girls' 3200m run, where freshman Madison Chapman led the field, winning with an impressive 2:44 second lead. She finished in a time of 12:15.67.
The varsity girls 4X100m relay, consisting of senior Estelle Davis, freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu, sophomore Saige Soell, and junior Blair Mosely, took 3rd place with a time of 49.16.
Next was the varsity girls' 800m run, in which the Lady Eagles went 4-5-6. They were led by freshman Sofia Gomez, who ran 2:35.99. She was followed by senior Sophie Deneault and sophomore Sadie Cotter, who finished in 2:38.17 and 2:43.28 respectively.
Competing in the varsity girls' 100m hurdles were freshman Presli Prater and senior Zoey Tait. They ran times of 16.90 and 17.74 respectively to take 3rd and 5th. In the 100m dash, freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu led the way, running a time of 12.66 to take 4th place, and put points on the board. Next was senior Estelle Davis, who ran 12.85 for 7th. She was followed by senior Bella Jeffreys, who ran 13.12 for 11th.
The Lady Eagles 4X200m relay placed 3rd, running a time of 1:46.29. The team consisted of sophomores Eva Robinson and Saige Soell, freshman Kach Meador, and junior Alexa Garcia.
In the open 400m, senior Bella Jeffreys and junior Ayla Feely took 7th and 8th, finishing the race in times of 1:04.49 and 1:05.40. Next was the 300m hurdles, where a close finish resulted in a 1st place finish for sophomore Kate Brooks. Brooks finished the race in a time of 49.38. Also competing were freshman Presli Prater and senior Zoey Tait, who ran 50.90 and 53.97 for 5th and 7th.
Freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu placed 4th in the girl's 200m dash, finishing in a time of 26.15. Also competing were sophomore Eva Robinson and junior Alexa Garcia, who placed 11th and 12th with times of 27.22 and 27.78 respectively.
In the varsity 1600m run, the Lady Eagles went 1-2-3. Freshman Madison Chapman took home the gold, running a new PR of 5:33.49. She was followed by junior Sydney Lessley, who ran 5:54.11. In 3rd place was junior Emerson Payne, who finished in 5:57.26.
The night concluded with the 4X400m relay, where the varsity girls took first place with 4:11.37. The team included sophomore Kate Brooks, senior Zoe Jackson, freshman Kach Meador, and junior Blair Mosley.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete in Aledo on Thursday, March 6th.
