Friday night was a great meet for the Lady Eagles. They competed in the Jimmy Sanders Wildcat Invitational, and placed 1st out of 14 teams, scoring 171 points. This put them 75 points ahead of the 2nd place team.
The morning began with the field events. In the high jump, sophomore Allie King brought home the gold with her 1st place jump of 5-0. This was a new PR for King. Also competing was freshman Presli Prater, who set a new personal best with a jump of 5-0 for 5th.
In the JV girls long jump, freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu scored points for the Lady Eagles, placing 3rd with a jump of 14-4. Fellow freshman Vanessa DeBanks also placed 2nd in the girls discus, and 10th in shot put, throwing 78-9 and 25-0 for the respective events. Also competing in shot put was sophomore Emma King, who threw a new PR of 36-0 to take 1st place for the Lady Eagles.
Freshman Kallie Vest and senior Natalie Bartocci competed in the JV girls triple jump, placing 2nd and 5th. Vest jumped 32-3, while Bartocci jumped 25-7.
The running events began with the JV girls 3200m run, where junior Ariana Hernandez took 1st place by 37 seconds, running a time of 13:57.01. Next was freshman Jordan Augenstein, who ran a new PR of 15:03.60 to take 3rd. Also putting points on the board was freshman Storie Rogers, who placed 6th with a time of 16:15.28.
The Lady Eagles 4X100m relay, consisting of freshmen Taylor Thomas, Deana Somers, Julia Allen, and sophomore Kaia Tritthardt, took first place with a time of 51.02.
Next was the 800m run. Junior Emerson Payne placed 2nd, running a time of 2:41.47. Junior London Fry and freshman Bella Moes also competed. They placed 5th and 9th, with Fry running a new PR of 2:50.48, and Moes debuting with a time of 2:56.99.
This was followed by the 100m hurdles, in which freshman Sailor Farda represented the Lady Eagles. She ran a time of 19.34 for 4th place. Freshmen Julia Allen and Kallie Vest competed in the 100m dash, placing 2nd and 6th overall. Allen ran a time of 13.21 while Vest finished in 13.94. Additionally, freshman Hannah Childs placed 14th in 14.22.
The JV girls brought home 1st place in the 4X200m relay as well. The team of freshman Taylor Thomas, Deana Somers, Julia Allen, and sophomore Kaia Tritthardt led the race again, finishing in a time of 1:49.15.
In the 400m dash, sophomore Aoife Journagan was the first of the Lady Eagles, placing 2nd with a time of 1:05.39. Also competing were freshmen Berkley Patton and Hannah Childs, who placed 6th and 10th. They ran times of 1:07.12 and 1:09.38 respectively.
Freshman Sailor Farda competed in the 300m hurdles, placing 4th with a time of 58.89. Also putting up points for the Lady Eagles was freshman Taylor Thomas, who ran the open 200m in 28.70 to place 6th. Following closely behind were sophomore Kensley Vest and freshman Kallie Vest, who ran 29.00 and 29.15 to place 9th and 10th.
In the 1600m run, the Lady Eagles took 1st, 6th, and 7th. The team was led by junior Ariana Hernandez, who ran a new PR of 6:15, winning the field by 19 seconds. She was followed by the duo of freshmen Jordan Augenstein and Bella Moes, who ran 6:52.70 and 6:57.74.
The night concluded with the 4X400m run, where the JV girls ran 4:22.64 for 1st place. This team included sophomores Kaia Tritthardt, Landry Murphy, Kensley Vest, and freshman Deana Somers.
Next week, the Lady Eagles will compete in Aledo on Thursday, March 6th.
