The Lady Eagles competed at the Byron Nelson Invitational on Friday, taking 5th in a field of 9 of the metroplex’ top competitors.
The day began with the field events, in which freshman Kamryn Johnson took 18th in the high jump with a height of 4-2. Freshman Vanessa DeBanks also made her debut for Argyle in discus, throwing a personal best of 101-8 to win it all. Also competing for the first time for Argyle track and field was freshman Storie Rogers, who placed 19th in the JV 3200m, running a new PR of 15:12.97.
The JV girls 4X100m took 4th in a tough field, finishing with a time of 52.88. The team consisted of freshmen Taylor Thomas and Deana Somers, and sophomores Berkley Burns and Kaia Tritthardt. Competing in the JV girls 800m were juniors Margaret Schmidt and London Fry, who finished 18th and 19th. They ran 2:55.22 and 2:55.97 respectively.
In the JV girls 100m dash, junior LeiLani De Leon took 2nd place with a time of 13.39, while freshman Hannah Childs ran a new PR of 14.28 for 13th.
The JV girls 4X200m relay also took 4th place, finishing in a time of 1:51.33. This team included freshman Taylor Thomas, junior LeiLani De Leon, sophomore Burkley Burns, and sophomore Kaia Tritthardt.
In the open 400m were freshmen Berkley Patton and Hannah Childs. They ran 1:09.26 and 1:10.46 to take 16th and 19th respectively. The JV girls 200m was next, and saw freshman Taylor Thomas put points on the board for the team. Thomas finished 4th with a time of 28.18. In the 1600m, junior Margaret Schmidt finished 19th with a time of 6:39.92, and freshman Karis Shillingburg ran a new PR of 7:21.38 for 27th.
The night concluded with a 4th place finish by the JV girls 4X400m relay. The team consisting of sophomore Kaia Tritthardt, sophomore Berkley Burns, freshman Berkley Patton, and junior LeiLani De Leon ran a time of 4:28.13.
The Lady Eagles will compete at home next Saturday, February 22nd.
