The Lady Eagles competed at the Byron Nelson Invitational on Friday, finishing 10th among some of the best teams in the metroplex.
The morning started with the field events, where junior Ella Stanzel jumped a new PR of 5-4 to place 2nd. Also competing were senior Madeline Zindel and junior Teagan Tarrant. They jumped 4-10 and 4-8 to take 7th and 16th overall.
In the varsity girls long jump were junior Ella Stanzel, and seniors Zoey Tait and Natalie Bartocci. Stanzel and Tait jumped 14-10 and 14-2.25 to take 16th and 18th, while Bartocci set a new PR of 13-0 for 20th. Bartocci also competed in the triple jump, placing 15th with 26-2.50.
Concluding the field events, senior Peyton Berry took first place in pole vault with her jump of 11-0.
This was the first meet of the season for our relay teams. The varsity girls 4X100m took 7th place with a time of 49.90. The team consisted of senior Estelle Davis, freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu, sophomore Saige Soell, and junior Alexa Garcia.
In the varsity 800m run, junior Emerson Payne, senior Sophie Deneault, and sophomore Sadie Cotter placed 11th, 12th, and 15th, running times of 2:36.50, 2:36.67, and 2:42.54 respectively.
Next was the 100m hurdles, in which freshman Presli Prater ran 17.57 for 11th place. Also competing were junior Ella Stanzel and senior Zoey Tait. They ran 18.18 and 18.91 to take 16th and 19th respectively.
Seniors Estelle Davis, Bella Jeffreys, and sophomore Eva Robinson were up next in the 100m dash. They placed 14th, 15th, and 16th. Davis ran 13.16, Jeffreys ran 13.20, and Robinson put down a new PR of 13.23.
The girl’s 4X200m relay placed 7th with a time of 1:47.70. The team consisted of freshman Chelsey Nwaiwu, sophomore Saige Soell, freshman Kash Meador, and junior Alexa Garcia.
Competing in the open 400m were senior Zoe Jackson and junior Ayla Feely. Jackson placed 13th with 1:03.20, while Feely placed 19th with a time of 1:06.45.
In the 300m hurdles, freshman Presli Prater placed 13th with a time of 50.66. She was followed closely by sophomore Kate Brooks, who ran 51.29 for 14th. Also competing was senior Zoey Tait, who placed 19th with a time of 53.57.
Eva Robinson ran a new PR in the open 200m. She placed 7th with a time of 26.34. Sophomore Saige Soell placed 11th with a time of 27.27. Additionally, junior Ayla Feely ran 28.35 for 21st.
In the girls varsity 1600m, the team was led by junior Sydney Lessley, who ran 5:50.83 for 16th. Junior Emerson Payne placed 20th with a time of 6:01.14, and sophomore Sadie Cotter ran 6:09.76 for 22nd.
The night concluded with the girls 4X400m relay, in which Argyle placed 8th with a time of 4:13.93. This team included junior Alexa Garcia, senior Bella Jeffreys, and freshmen Chelsey Nwaiwu and Kach Meador.
The Lady Eagles will compete at home next Saturday, February 22nd.
