Lady Eagles Sweep Top Two Spots at District 7-4A Tournament
March 28 & April 6, 2022
Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch / RB Golf Club – Argyle / Runaway Bay, Texas
The Argyle Lady Eagles turn the District 7-4A Tournament into a showcase of full-program strength, finishing first and second in the team standings while filling the top of the individual leaderboard.
Across two rounds at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch and RB Golf Club in Runaway Bay, Argyle Black posts scores of 310 and 308 for a 36-hole total of 618 to win the district championship. Argyle Red follows with rounds of 347 and 367 for a 714 total, securing runner-up honors and giving the Lady Eagles a one-two finish in the final team standings.
At the top of the board, Argyle takes control from the start.
Madison Wert leads the Black team with rounds of 79 and 75, while Ryan Purczynski matches her two-day total with scores of 77 and 77, leaving the two Lady Eagles tied for first at the end of regulation play. Katie Garner and Lauren Justice also finish deadlocked after 36 holes, with Garner posting 82 and 77 and Justice carding 80 and 79 to tie for third. Claire Jensen adds another strong finish with rounds of 74 and 86 to place fifth overall.
That sends four Lady Eagles to a playoff for medalist positions, and Argyle delivers again. Wert claims the individual district championship, while Garner secures third place to give the Lady Eagles even more control near the top of the standings.
The balance of the Black team proves decisive all tournament long. With Wert, Purczynski, Garner, Justice, and Jensen all finishing inside the top five, Argyle does not simply win the team title — it dominates the individual race along the way.
Argyle Red reinforces the program’s depth with a strong finish of its own.
Maddie Wilson leads the second team with rounds of 84 and 90 to finish seventh overall. Ansleigh Mullins follows in eighth with an 86-90 total, while Madi Hance shoots 89 and 90 to place ninth and earn individual regional-qualifier honors. Allison Giese cards 91 and 91, and Ari Davies posts 86 and 96 as the two tie for 10th. Ana Edwards rounds out the lineup with scores of 95 and 108.
That is what makes the tournament so significant for Argyle.
The Lady Eagles do not rely on one standout round or one player carrying the field. They win with depth, consistency, and the kind of complete roster strength that championship programs build over time. One team wins the district title. Another finishes second. Multiple players crowd the top of the leaderboard. And another individual qualifier moves on as well.
That kind of result sends a clear message heading into regionals.
Next, the Lady Eagles head to the Region I Tournament at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock on April 20-21, where all 11 golfers compete for the opportunity to earn a place at the UIL State Tournament in May.
